Felt it big time here on the 20th floor in Hollywood. Usually quakes make us gently sway up here, but this one was much faster in the back and forth movements.
Exactly, same reason they have you seat belted on a plane.... Identify the bodies by seat number... :)
We're sick, Sandy!! hehe!
Just spoke to my friend from Riverside, says she heard the quake first when her windows rattled, then felt the shaking after.
Damn. I have not felt any of them. Not even a tremor.
Sure have been quite a few quakes along that entire fault line in the past week or so!
I am surprised that I felt it this far south (Coronado.) It jarred me pretty good. I didn't feel a thing from the Sunday morning shaker, but I did notice the birds were acting spooked.
Reports of only breaking plate windows in Arrowhead. Very light damage only.
What area you in?
KNBC is reporting the quake occurred on the San Andreas fault.
USGS is saying they believe there is a relationship between the Anza quake and the Yucaipa quake.
All I can say is FORESHOCK?
"Felt it here in Illinois!"
I think if you check history, you will find a huge quake in Missouri in the early 1800s.
Real Big!!
From LA CITY FIRE:
The greater Southern California area has experienced a significant
seismic event. The full scope and magnitude of this event are still
being assessed.
Though no future earthquake activity is predicted, we remind you...
If indoors when the shaking may start again, protect yourself by
staying away from windows and taking cover under a sturdy piece of
furniture or by an inside wall. Cover your head and neck with your
arms and wait till the shaking stops.
If you're outdoors when an aftershock begins, stay in the open away
from buildings, bridges, signs and overhead wires. If you're in a
car, pull over and stop at the first safe spot you come to, being
careful to avoid similar hazards while remaining in your vehicle.
The Police and Fire Department know about the earthquake and are busy
responding to the most serious problems first.
Please... stay off the telephone... including your cell phone at this
time... unless you are reporting a life-threatening injury or fire.
Unnecessary calls to report the earthquake or to check on friends or
relatives could keep life-saving calls to 9-1-1 from getting through.
9-1-1 should only be used to request immediate help for
life-threatening emergencies. Do not call 9-1-1 to ask questions.
You'll find emergency self-help instructions in the front pages of
your telephone book. The Los Angeles Fire Department encourages you
to stay tuned to your local source of broadcast news.
Felt it real good here in Ontario.
It takes a little bit of effort, but be prepared.
That was the 1989 earthquake, wasn't it? I'll never forget that earthquake - and I was up in Las Vegas. Got married that night, the parking garage elevator jammed and caught on fire.
Stupid me - should have paid attention to the omens.
SHHHHHH!!!
Don't say that!
jinx-jinx-jinx-jinx
Has anybody used the word "swarm" yet?
Only about half the BIG California quakes have identifiable foreshocks and only about 5% of quakes this size are foreshocks to a larger quake, so it's possible, but not the likeliest outcome.
Was it stronger than the one on Sunday? I was at home in Ontario on Sunday morning, but I am at work in Brea right now.
Did I just hear right on Fox, that there have already been 9 aftershocks from today's quake?
