The EU superstate- future base of Antichrist. by British newspaper editor Alan Franklin

Major Prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7 indicate that the Holy Roman Empire will be the dominant force in the world when our Lord returns. Twenty five hundred years ago Daniel saw the Roman Empire revived from the dead in the end times. Those prophecies are today being fulfilled in Europe.

I have often spoken about the rebirth of the Roman Empire in the form of The European Union, the superstate of 25 nations that has replaced most of the individual countries of Europe, a country with its own flag and parliament. Then, in September, came quite a shock: one of those history being created before your eyes moments. The EU, at an astonishing art exhibition sketching the future of the organisation, described itself under the heading Roman Empire Returns.

According to this EU exhibition, staged in a brightly coloured circus tent outside the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium core of the EU, the EU will be renamed “The Union” once it grows to 50 states over the next three decades. The United Nations headquarters will be moved to Gibraltar, a tiny British enclave off the coast of Spain which commands the entrance to the Mediteranean Sea, a very strategic site. This will be as “The EU defends the international order against the American onslaught.”

"Genesis 6:1-8

When men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and the daughters were born to them, the sons (angels) of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took to wife such of them as they chose..........."

Yes and this is what is to reoccur again prior to the return of the REAL Christ. Has not happened yet.

Just to make sure you are not disagreeing without have a clue just what the other side it saying (let us avoid friendly fire) let us be real clear on a point or two:

People have a very poor understanding of history, just to make sure we are on the same page; do you understand what I mean when I say the Holy Roman Empire is not the same thing as the Ancient (Pagan) Roman Empire? Just to be sure when do you say the Roman Empire fell apart and ceased to exist and when did the Holy Roman Empire cease to exist? (don't worry about being too specific the general ball park will do)

What Bible based Cults think the Holy Roman Empire is the empire the Bible is talking about?

I had not considered that but I can find no fault with it either. Except it leaves out Rome. Many people consider the Byzantine Empire a continuation of the Ancient Roman Empire and they have good cause for doing so but the history books refer to it by a different name in order to avoid confusion (a good thing considering how few know the difference when you add the word Holy to Roman Empire).

Heaven knows!

I think you may have meant to direct that question to a different poster. If not, we must be on different pages.

What Bible based Cults think the Holy Roman Empire is the empire the Bible is talking about?

There may be others but I know that Herbert Armstrong (founder of the Worldwide Church of God) believed the Holy Roman Empire was one instance of the Roman Empire, the most recent being Italy under Mussolini. He believed there would be one more and that would be the last one and that Christ would return during that time.

Armstrong died about 20 years ago and many splinter cults formed from his original cult. The main cults trying to keep to the teachings of Armstrong are the Philadelphia Church of God operated by a former minister of Armstrong named Gerald Flurry. Another is the Living Church of God operated by another minister of Armstrongs named Rod Meredith.

That guy who shot up church services in Wisconsin a couple of months ago was a follower of Meredith. The United Church of God is probably the largest splinter cult from Armstrongs Worldwide Church of God but United is less extreme that Flurry's cult or Meredith's.

Flurry's cult is the one I most fear will follow the path of Jim Jones.

If you want more info, just do a Google search of their names.

Re: "True, but the beast must also be supported by a false prophet. Ironically the most radical Protestants, and the most traditional (SSPX/Tridentine) Catholics, are pretty much agreed on what office the false prophet will occupy."

I suspect you mean a Pope? As a SSPX/Tridentine Catholic I can assure you not all think as you do but not all will disagree either. This idea is a very old one. Savonarola was a Florentine Monk who is famous in art history for his Bonfires of the Vanities in which many famous Renaissance works of art and literature were burned. He lived at the end of the 15th century (pre Martin Luther) and was excommunicated and burned at the stake as a Heretic. I have read sermons by him that predict this. By the way Savonarola is now in the works for sainthood (go figure)

It is possible, but I am not entirely sure. Our crispy friend was right about some things to be sure but I do not know enough about his trial to form a judgment of him. They were doing some very questionable things at the time. You had papacies dedicated to Venus for example and even Dante's great work The Divine Comedy had the writer praying to Apollo at one point.

If pushed against a wall I would suspect the man who gives religious cover for the Antichrist will be a Judas like figure. Which means he will be a high ranking RCC official (perhaps a Pope but more likely a Cardinal) Remember Judas was an Apostle but the rank of Peter over and above the others was already well established by the time Judas betrayed Christ to evil men.

It is my theory that the Church is on the same road as Christ (Think stations of the Cross and the Rosary) The role of the popes is much like a sleeping Peter while the Church is being betrayed. I think the last 40 years has been a good example of just that. Popes are not speaking out with the same force they did in the past (Pius V, Leo XIII or Pius X.) Their teachings have become as muddled as a drowsy man still half asleep.

I think the betrayer will claim the title pope and the government will support that claim. Most will not have a clue the real Pope will be in hiding in the Wilderness. For a clue what I am talking about here please see Revelations Chapter 12. By they way does not the Lady remind you of the Church's view of Saint Mary?

The above really doesn't answer my question and I am no closer to understanding where you are on this. I still do not know if you know what I mean and since you did not answer my question about the 2 different Empires I will just have to let it go and not worry about it one way or the other.

Correction. Christ said it would be "just as in the days of Noe" not that there would be a flood. In fact there will be no flood and Christ's description was one of something else entirely. Many believe it will be Fire this time. Matthew 24:21 precludes a possible flood “For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be”

What Christ said: Matthew 24:37- 39 “And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark, And they knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.”

Christ is comparing the period before the Flood to what will be before the Great Tribulation which will be unlike anything that has happened since the world was created. Since a flood has happened since then it is not possible to be a great Flood. Also this marrying and giving in marriage is a turn of phrase many have seen as referring to marriage and divorce and remarriage. We sure have that today in the post Christian Western Democracies. Some think this may refer to same sex marriage as well. I find interesting Luke 16:34 “I say to you: in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.”

More from Luke 16:26- 30 “And as it came to pass in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat and drink, they married wives, and were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark: and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it came to pass, in the days of Lot: they did eat and drink, they bought and sold, they planted and built. And in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man shall be revealed.”

Notice the plural in the words “wives”. Please remember this the next time a minister takes a soft position on divorce. I also find it interesting the mention of Sodom here. The passages in Matthew 24 and Luke 16 are most likely from the same lesson by Christ.

Re: "the sons (angels) of God"

We do not know them to be angels. The phrase "sons of God" is used to refer to angels yes but also men such as Abraham. There is a school of thought this refers to marriage outside the Faith. Such as a Jewish man marring a Canaanite's daughter. Hybrid vigor anyone. Considering the height and weight of the average American male in comparison to a very inbred society (Japan) and you may have your giants. The United States is a very mongrel nation and is no doubt the giant among nations both in material wealth and power but also our very own personal size.

I do not know but I do know the phrase may not refer to angels nor demons (fallen angels)

I did not say there would be a flood of waters!

I said what was going on that cause there to be a flood would reoccur. There will however be a flood of lies, reason Christ said "Let no "MAN" deceive you. The taking of 'women' is not done by mere flesh beings read Genesis again.

To be specific, I understand the differences between the Roman Empire, the collapse of the Western Empire circa 500AD, the formation of the Holy Roman Empire Circa 1000AD and the end of the Holy Roman Empire circa 1800AD.

Whith that having been said, those bible based cults I mentioned in the prior post connect Daniels prophecy with the Roman Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, and Mussolini. They believe there will be one more incarnation which will exist when Christ returns.

Are you saying that angels will descend again and take women as their wives? Because, if you are, I totally disagree with you.

I do not disagree that "man's thoughts" will corrupt the earth such as it did in the days of Noah...hence the flood.

"We do not know them to be angels. The phrase "sons of God" is used to refer to angels yes but also men such as Abraham." From Aid to Bible Understanding: Nephilim: This is a transliteraton of the Hebrew word nephilim', plural in all its three occurances in the Bible. Gen. 6:4; Num. 13:33 [twice].) It is believed to mean "fellers" or "those who cause others to fall down ," as it most like stems from the Hebrew verb na-phal' (to fall) as found, for example in Joshua 11:7 . The Bible account describing God's displeasure with men in the days of Noah before the Flood relates that "the sons of the true God" took for themselves wives from among the attractive daughters of men.. It then mentions the presence of "Nephilim," saying: "The Nephilim proved to be in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of the true God continued to have relations with the daughters of men and they bore sons to them, they were the mighty ones [Heb. gib-bo-rim'] who were of old, the men of fame." Another group, taking into consideration the context of verse four, conclude that the Nephilim were not themselves angels, but were the hybrid offspring resulting from materialized angels having intercourse with the daughters of men. The Greek Septuagint also suggests that both the "Nephilim" and "mighty ones" are identical by using the same word gi'gan-tes (giants) to translate both expressions.

It is fine you do not agree, but please note these are not my words, but what Christ said would be a sign of His coming. It has happened before and it will happen again.

Wouldn't that mean that one man was saved and the other lost? In which case they couldn't be practicing sodomites -- both would be lost.

In pre-industrial economies, non-sexual sharing of beds was (and in some places, likely still is) the best way to keep warm. "How can one be warm alone?", said Psolomon psomehwere (I forget the chapter and verse). This was even practiced on our own frontier, which is the root of the latest "Lincoln was gay" libel. I'm sure that's what this verse is talking about.

Link, please?

This reminds me of the Lord's rebuke to the Sanhedrin. They were indeed the lawful successors seat of Moses (analogy: seat of Peter!) yet they were indicted for, among other things, burning prophets.

Perhaps they'll canonize Wycliff and Huss next? ;-)
