A bipartisan rebellion(Illegal Immigration)
Pittsburgh Live ^ | October 4, 2005 | James Pinkerton

The sleeper issue in the 2008 presidential election is immigration. Actually, as a recent straw poll shows, it's waking up. Since the 1960s, the elites in both parties have been solidly pro-immigration. Democrats, for their part, have figured they could burnish their anti-racism, pro-multiculturalist credentials by opening America's borders to the world's teeming masses.

That's okay. Doesn't matter. Everyone needs a point from which to begin/a goal to accomplish. My points are established from personal observation and may not ever be totally acceptable in the political profession. One day? Maybe after the total failure of our system of government those points will become more attractive.

The politicians of this country won't do anything about reducing illegal aliens, lowering welfare, relieving prisons and schools, stabilizing health care costs, or securing social security until there are concerted efforts made to accomplish that specific goal and the people of this nation make it their priority.

Until then, apathetic Americans think it's up to someone else, it's the government's responsibility all the while our nation crumbles.

We could always go with a higher birth rate. Besides, when the Ottoman Turks took down the last small remnant of the Roman Empire, it was no longer Roman in ethnicity or political ideas. Do we want that for America?

What's wrong with a higher birthrate? Seal the border, eliminate all welfare programs for all but the truly disabled, and let the market rule as far as wages and prices.

"... makes the USA incredibly vulnerable to the world class incompetance of Mexican government."

We're doing just fine with the level of incomeptance of our own government...so you're correct, why import more incompetance with a funny accent.

I like your ideas. do you mind if I use parts of your post in my daily letter to the President, vice-President, my Senators, and my congressman?

Here's the one I have been sending

Any immigration reform must do the following
1) Reduce total immigration. We must give our current immigrants a few decades to assimilate before accepting any great numbers of more.
2) Deport all current illegal aliens. They broke our laws and present the risk of breaking more.
3) Include a physical barrier between us and those countries bordering the US, especially Mexico, but also including Canada.
4) Increase airport security at all international points of entry.
5) Increase funding for the Coast Guard and task them with preventing smuggling of aliens to a greater extent than now.
6) Eliminate the "sanctuary city" movement by withholding all federal funds from cities that do not co-operate will all immigration measures. This worked very well in eliminating segregation from the South.
7) Require all doctors and other professionals to report illegal immigrants to the authorities as they are now required to report suspected child abuse.
8) Maintain all illegal immigrants who are making legal claims to stay in physical custody until their cases have been settled. If they are not settled in their favor, then immediate deportation to their countries of origin.
9) No social services for those who cannot prove their legal status, except for emergency medical care. A drivers license should be acceptable, If, and only if, they are set up so that only legal residents and citizens can get one.
10) Put pressure on Mexico, and other countries that send us large numbers of illegals.
11) Most importantly, AN END TO BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP. Citizenship should be conferred only on those that have American citizen parents.
Thank you for your attention to the most important issue of the coming century.
Sincerely,

We've already got laws they are breaking by the minute that allows Mexicans and others to get permits to work here and to then go home.
They don't want to come here legally for a time IMO, they want to come here, drop an anchor baby or get free medical and then leave without paying taxes for all under-the-table or self-employment.

After almost a lifetime of supporting the Republican Party I lean more and more toward the Constitution Party. I feel that the GOP has deserted me.

It deserted me a few years back when GWB didn't close the borders after 9/11/01 and his open border/globalist agenda became clear to me.

I joined the Constitution Party.

Legal immigration is always good. Outside of the law by any nationality is not good.

The ultra-liberal San Francisco Chronicle is doing a poll on the Minutemen. Are they a.) patriotic citizens, or b.) dangerous vigalantes? Check in with your two-cents at http://www.sfgate.com

"89% of the other freepers disagree with me on this one "

I doubt it's anywhere close to that high. Bring something that America needs to the table, do it the right way, and immigrants are more than welcome. I think most people would agree with that sentiment.

Most Americans DON'T agree with you. According to the latest PEW poll in October: 51% of Americans say that reducing illegal immigration is a "top priority."

I don't have the statistics in front of me, but virtually every poll I've seen has said that the majority of Americans want to seriously reduce our level of LEGAL immigration also. Whats most interesting to me about the immigration debate is how it skewers the usual Left/Right dichotomy. The elites on both the Left AND the Right are all for endless Mass Immigration. With the vast majority of Americans in the middle VEHEMENTLY against it.

The Limosuine Liberals on the Left, their hearts bleed for all "minorities" (so long as they don't have to actually live amongst them). And the Corporate Conservatives on the Right see endless millions of new immigrants as nothing more than cattle to feed on: an endless source of cheap labor and millions of new consumers to buy their crappy products.

What a strange issue this is: immigration.

"Americans want to seriously reduce our level of LEGAL immigration"

The context that I think Americans support it is when there is a prerequisite for some needed skill or trade. I don't believe that is the criteria for immigration today, so I can beleive what you say.

Our level of Mass Immigration over the last 4 decades is at a level that is UNPRECEDENTED IN HUMAN HISTORY! Theres a very obvious reason why no other nation in history would allow this. Because its INSANE!!! And believe me, most Americans realize that. Most Americans realize the obvious. This is one of the most destructive things that could be inflicted on a society (why do you think every OTHER society in history did all they could to prevent it?). Its only the Elites on the top -- on both the Left and the Right -- that want to keep flooding America with endless millions of immigrants. And the deluded fools who have fallen for their propaganda. The Elites see millions of immigrants as nothing more than cattle to feed on.
