This video news report is mostly what's been aired on past news reports: that Joel Hinrichs was turned away from the stadium, etc., but the the KEY quote from this story occurs about :30 seconds into the story, and that is when the reporter says "...a homemade REMOTE CONTROLLED bomb was strapped to his back
The story goes on to detail his attempted purchase of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, etc.
I don't know how the IDs work any more, but they were a different color background every semester, so an ex-student couldn't get into events free. That was when all we needed for football tickets (even Texas weekend!) was our ID. That was a jillion quadrillion years ago, you understand.
Nobody has proven to me yet that he was ever Muslim.

The only insight that I can give is that this is a crappy report. Point one: it is stated that a student killed himself. Not confirmed as to whether he killed himself or not. The rest of this garbage goes like this: Police say...blah. A spokesman on the campus said...blah, and would not know a handgun from a sack of rocks. The un-named Oklahoma County sherriff's deputy (according to the anonymous campus spokes-dolt) was so freakin startled that he did not file a report. I call bullsh!t on Jerry Bohnen.
I never heard that at all?....been in these parts for over 15 years!

All that I can say is that y'all got a sympathyzer problem. He obviously believes that he will be the last one that the tiger eats. Ignoring the carnage around him. Somebody might ought to request an inquiry into the admissions and alumni fund thing.
I honestly don't know. Should be a matter of public record, though.
As I theorized earlier, based on all the pieces of the puzzle we have so far, his intent seems to have been to get into the stadium, leave the bomb, and detonate it from somewhere else. He had no intention of dying with the bomb, otherwise he wouldn't have had more stuff back at his apartment for future use.
This was no suicide, and it wasn't even a suicide bombing. It was going to be strictly a homicide bombing. We should be glad those were his plans, because those plans are what ultimately foiled him. Had he intended to die with the bomb, he probably would have tried to enter the stadium with the bomb on his person, rather than having it in the backpack. If he had tried this right from the start, he would have gotten in.
After trying to get in with the backpack several times, I theorize that he went to the bench to transfer the bomb from the backpack to under his clothes without anyone seeing him do so. And as he made that transfer, he accidentally set the bomb off. If he hadn't set it off, he would have returned to the stadium and gotten in. After that, two things would have happened. He would have planted the bomb in the stadium, left, and triggered it from outside... or he would have accidentally set it off while trying to plant it.
The master controller of these groups apparently put cell phones into the backpacks of their bomb carrying jihadist mules.
If the mules get turned away or chicken, their cell phone gets speed dialed by the master controller, and they go bang.
This is apparently what happened to the bomb mule who got blown up on the double decker bus in London this summer.
This bomb carrying jihadist mule apparently was kept from entering the stadium in 3 separate tries. He set down on the bench and got the last cell phone he would ever get.

Precisely. The plan was to detonate the bomb inside the stadium. If handlers were watching him, and saw his unsuccessful attempts to get inside, they didn't blow him up at one of the gates because they really wanted that bomb inside the stadium. Likewise, they wouldn't blow him up at the bench because they would have waited for him to try to get inside with the bomb under his clothes.
That's why I don't believe handlers blew him up. I don't believe our people did either, not with that bus driver so close. Our people could have blown him up as he walked to the bench, before he got there near the buses. His handlers could have done the same, but as I said, they didn't because they wanted him to go to Plan B.
It was while he took the bomb out of the backpack and put it under his clothes to implement Plan B that he accidentally detonated it.
I was checking out Middle East Donors to OU when the link came up to Little Green Footballs which took me to the OU Press. I was astounded and like you I think we have a Muslim sympathizer. Gives me the creeps and makes me mad at myself for defending him so much on here and around town.
You have the same theory I do -- we are just lucky he blew himself up.
NYC, perhaps? I believe there is method in the FBI's apparent madness of releasing Fazal Cheema and not impounding the Lincoln. Watching and waiting to see what would happen.
