Civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks has died, Local 4 has learned.

Parks, 92, reportedly died around 7 p.m. Monday at St. John Hospital on Detroit's east side.

Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955 landed her in jail and sparked a bus boycott that is considered the start of the modern civil rights movement. The bus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn.

Parks, was born on Feb. 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Ala. She lived in Detroit.

The content of her character was indeed a motivating force for many courageous Americans. May the Lord provide solace for her family, and grant her soul eternal peace.

Apparently, to some, Rosa Parks = Huey Newton.

I actually met Rosa Parks in Denver in the spring of 1988. There were a number of celebs there including Carl Curtis, former Senator from Nebraska. I had a very brief conversation with her and asked if her act of defiance so many years ago was aimed at start anything. "No," she said, "My feet were just tired.

When MSM, ACLU, DU, FR and the uninformed drunk on the next bar stool agree on something other than that the sky is blue, it's a sign for the sane ones to head for the hills!

She made a decision that changed history. Many people say they have the courage to stand up for what is right against adversity. Few actually do.

Just a query as to why a statement regarding Marxism, and a self described adherent is removed from an eulogy thread.

Yes, trembling inside; how probably so true.

Bless her courage.

How many today would step forward, particularly among the younger X generation who believe the world should be handed to them because Daddy is rich and it is their birthright to be among the 'priveledged class'?

I worry about our future. We do not have 'fortitude' among our young people as we had in her generation; those who would stand up for doing the right thing.

It hung on for a while. I lived at Cass and Myrtle in 1978. There was a thriving Chinatown within walking distance. Edgewater Park and Bob-Lo were still around. Joe Muers was still there. But the slide had definitely started.
