...but their own people are living in abject poverty in most towns and villages and Amadnaginidad (sp) has promised to help the poor of Iran. He can't do both.

Sure he can. If Ahmadinejad's pocket book is as big as his mouth he should be able to that and more.

It's a win-win twofer.
It keeps the mad ayatollahs and friends busy, and "palestine" is a bottomless sink into which to dump its oil profits.

Works for me!

For decades the royal family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been the main financial supporter of Palestinian groups fighting Israel, through the creation of two major committees. The Popular Committee for Assisting Palestinian Mujahideen and The Support Committee for the Al-Quds Intifada and The Al-Aqsa Fund have to date given over 15 billion Saudi Riyals (4 billion $U.S.) and reportedly pledged Palestinians up to 1 billion dollars to finance the continuation of the Intifada, which is also commonly referred to by Saudi officials as "Jihad" [1] and "resistance.

BTW, Saudis hate the Jews but they hate and FEAR the Iranians more.

Good for them, I guess even blind nuts find a squirrel once in a while.

Yep, but funding terrorism is NOT the same as totally supporting 6 million Palestinians who can not support themselves. I don't think people realize the amount of money that has flowed into that country from western sources. The EU, the US, the UN and tons of NGOs. Eliminate that and the cost would be crippling for a nation that is already experienceing internal problems of their own. We are talking about supporting 6 million totally disfunctional people with NO industry, no economy of their own.

Saudi Royal Family's Financial Support to the Palestinians 1998-2003: More than 15 Billion Riyals ($4 Billion U.S.) Given to 'Mujahideen Fighters' and 'Families of Martyrs'

April 29, 1998

"Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, spiritual leader of Hamas, remarked that he had been pleased with the good words of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince and that the support and backing they had given had reassured him that the Palestinians were not alone in confronting Zionism. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia transferred 3,600,000 Saudi Riyals from the Popular Committee to Assist the Freedom Fighters of Palestine to the Palestinian Liberation Organization on the basis of advice from Prince Salman Ibn Abd Al-Aziz, Emir of the Riyadh Region and President of the Popular Committee to Assist the Freedom Fighters of Palestine. This sum is the sixth remittance from the Committee to the Palestinian Liberation Organisation during the current year of the Hijra."

Not really, especially if we turn off the money spigot. Then they can claim that these "poor unfortunates" had no choice to but to resort to terrorism, yada yada--you know the rest of the bleeding heart spiel by heart, no doubt.

So?
I don't see the problem.
They can claim anything they want!

When did we become the economic slaves of nutjob sandmaggots and Euroweenies?

They say "jump" and we open our wallets?

What planet did you just arrive from?
What are they gonna do? Export their explosives and mass murderers?
Wait...

So this guy is now the leader, interesting that the media has not put a spotlight upon him, rather keeps focus upon the mob Hamas.

Wonder will the world aid community now write checks to Hamas or to Saroman???

Ah yes, $4 billion in 5 years. How about $4 billion every couple of months? I read that the Pali payroll exceeded $63 million a month and they're already $69 million in the hole for last month and desperate for funds. And that's just for PAYROLL. Now add to that feeding 6 million people who have no way to earn money. 50% of the people are on the public payroll, the other 50% are unemployed.

Nobody is saying that 6 million Palestinians need to be totally supported by outside funding. No one is doing that now. It is the "135,000 Palestinian civil servants, including some 58,000 members of the security forces," that need to be paid. Many Palestinians work in Israel or have their own businesses.

Slow down there, Pub. I never said anything about endorsing anything. I merely posted what I think the media will say, and how everyone from Oprah to Fox & Friends weekend will paint this. We face a tremendous propaganda machine in this, as in most important issues. It doesn't hurt to point out what the spin is, was, and/or will be.

What I don't get is that when Arafat died they acted like they loved him so. Now we are hearing about how they hate the corruption.

That's easy, they model themselves after the democrat party.

True, but that was BEFORE Hamas came into power.

It makes no difference. Both Fatah and Hamas were receiving money. The Saudis have always tried to buy off their enemies. They will continue to fund the PLO, officially and privately.

"Saroman" is actually sheik yassin, former hamas leader, former because the Israelis offed him about a year ago with a rocket. They still carry his poster around though, I guess because whoever is running them now doesn't want to get the next rocket.

Work in Israel? How long do you think that's going to happen now that Hamas is in charge? Have their own businesses? Who are they going to sell to? Israel? The US? Europe? Remember Hamas is a known terrorist organization. Are they going to sell to other Palestinians? Which ones? The ones who are unemployed, or those who work for the government who won't be getting their paychecks?

"So they will lie and get the money."

Exactly. That's what I expect we can't have terrorist that have to earn a living by working a regular job.
