Are those Hind choppers and AK-101 assault rifles???
Nice collection of pics, thanks for posting.
Then, the AK-101 is a knock-off of the Beryl.
Poland should sell off its remaining Hinds to the US and get Apache and blackhawk gunships. Getting rid of everything from the Soviet era is a good idea, including AK designs.
Everything takes time. And money :-)
I view Hinds (as well as AH-60) as a valuable vehicle against war on terror. It allows to carry troops, and provide close air support after the troops are deployed from ground, good for tactical surprise attack on buildings where armed terrorists may be hiding. It's worth something to have.
Wow, haven't seen Hind-D's in a while. They're a flying tank.
Black hawks can do that alot better. Hinds are good for flat areas, but are almost useless in forested and mountianius regions. Just ask the Russians. They lost hundreds of Hinds in Chechnya and Afghanistan (the ones in Chechnya were upgraded with advanced technology and hardware). We lost only a few Blackhawks in Afghanistan, mostly from mechanical failure.
Russia/CIS still have thousands in their inventories, and continue to build them. In Russia/CIS, they are supported by Kamov and Havoc attack helos.
The Russians recently sold 10 Mi-35 Hinds to Venezuela.
Poland should upgrade to these weapons for their entire military.
Nope mate. The Beryl 5.56mm Assaul Rifle has proven it's a good design, based on the 5.45mm AK-74/Tantal but using modern materials (polymers). The 2004 model uses EOTech holosight and new magazines, also a telescopic butt. I've spoken with soldiers from Iraq and what they mentioned is that US soldiers have lots of problems running M-16s/M4s properly in sandy area whereas AK based designs simply work.
Wonderful photos -- thanks for the ping.
