When the whole firestorm that surrounded the Dixie Chicks and specifically lead singer Natalie Maines emerged in 2003 I thought it was a bit blown out of proportion.

I completely disagreed with her off the cuff statement in London that she was "ashamed" of the president being from Texas - but as she was just an entertainer - I thought her reaction was a bit overdone.

I am from Texas and live in Houston and though I've disagree with the president on many issues am proud he is from my state. Still - I was willing to write her off as just another entertainer trying to make a political point.
But now - there is no more defending Natalie Maines - she has jumped the shark.

In an article from the UK - again in the UK - she says:
"A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every (country music) video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."
"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot?"
"About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."

Well - Nat - you proved them all right. I was a fool to ever defend you.
There is no response to a statement as ignorant as that. "I don't see why people care about Patriotism?" Has she ever even picked up a history book?
This statement can only be described as pure ignorance.

Larry the cable guy had it right when he said "that little fat one needs to shut up".
"She needs a weekend with the Taliban to give her some perspective."
That would probably do it.
Sounds to me like they're scrambling to find blue state cities and have extended the sale of red state ones.
Jumping the shark is probably her first exercise in years.
I know what she's doing. She's playing up to liberal-left Democrats who share her hate for our country.
She looks like she never missed an "all you can eat buffet."
Sounds like spin to me.
But no matter. I won't be buying the group's latest recording or attending any of the concerts.

What about those definitions does she not understand?
Where would she be if they came to her home town and started annihilating everything in their path and she had no choice but to fight for her house.........oh wait she does not know what a patriot does or why we have veterans day either?
I fly the Unites States flag because I love this country.

Time has not been kind to chunky natalie. If the terrorist jihadies ever tried to cut her head off, it would probably take them a couple of hours. You ought to ponder that natalie; and maybe you'd be a little more appreciative and considerate about our heros in uniform who are on the front lines protecting us from the barbarians. The barbarians that you and your "progressive" friends want to have a dialogue with.
If she keeps this up, the DixChix will be doing b'day parties in Berkley for cigarette money.
