The Muslim religious holiday Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, is meant to commemorate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son on God's orders.
But now the holiday could also be associated with something else: the execution of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Eid-ul-Adha is a major Islamic holiday honoring the prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son for God. Muslims prepare and share meals with their families, neighbors, and the less fortunate. Eid-ul-Adha began Tuesday, January 10, 2006 this year. It begins Sunday, December 31, 2006 next year.
So indeed, the leftist, America-hating scumbags at the LA Times are lying - - they indeed "moved the holiday up to coincide with Saddam's execution - - just so they'd have something to wring their hands and whine about."
And when does Ramadajihadom end anyway?
Everyone Bend over for Islam.
LAT is trying to stir up trouble with ERRONEOUS INFORMATION (deliberately, I am sure).
I just did a search and it turns out that
"Eid al-Adha festival marks the END of the Hajj or holy pilgrimage,
The day before Eid al-Adha is the Day of Arafa' or the Day of Hajj when millions of Muslims make the journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform a pilgrimage of religious rites known as the Hajj. "
http://www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham/faith/2004/01/eid_al_adha.shtml
The pilgrimage starts Sunday and Eid al-Adha is at the END of that, so Saddam was NOT executed on a Muslim holiday.
Please see post #21.
He was killed ASAP by the people that knew him best.
as far as LALA TIMES goes
"I dont support our troops....When you volunteer for the U.S. military, you pretty much know youre not going to be fending off invasions from Mexico and Canada. So youre willingly signing up to be a fighting tool of American imperialism, for better or worse....Im not advocating that we spit on returning veterans like they did after the Vietnam War, but we shouldnt be celebrating people for doing something we dont think was a good idea."
Los Angeles Times columnist and former Time staff writer Joel Stein in a January 24 column.
At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca), Muslims throughout the world celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). In 2006, Eid al-Adha will begin on approximately December 31st, and will last for three days.

Again -- Saddam was NOT executed on a Muslim holiday.
LAT is lying, as usual.
all I know is having this many holidays is dangerous and is one of many ways cultures dies lets hope that Islam goes the same way.
GMTA -- I was doing the same research while you posted your finds and ended up posting it a couple of minutes after you.
We could verify that the author was lying in a couple of minutes, so why couldn't the LAT editors do that?!
It is becoming ridiculous, that the first thing one has to do, when reading an article in the MSM, is to check all their facts, because of such high probability that they are incorrect.
All thinking people reject terrorism, period; liberals, though, aren't even aware that their "Yeah, BUT..." crap FUELS further terrorism by showing that terrorism leads to debate in the public sector--precisely what the terrorists want (in addition to feeding their bloodlust).
Terrorism should be rejected, period, with none of the liberal prevarication that plays right into terrorist hands.
I mention this because this will be yet another reason for the always PO'd Islamofascists to be disgruntled against the US--as if they ever need new reasons beyond our mere existence--and the dems will say "Well, their holy day was violated," without, of course, acknowledging that it's only non-Christian holy days that are so sacred that legitimate Iraqi government business must be determined according to religious dictates.
You need retraining!
As mentioned in the article, it's a holiday to commemorate Abraham's (yes, the same guy from the Bible) willingness to sacrify one of his sons. On this day, Muslims sacrify lambs, cows, etc., and distribute the meat to the poor.
And bomb schoochildren, cut women's throats, etc..
Worth repeating.
In chains and convicted,
no appeal, it's been stated,
So now we're all singing,
soon he'll be swinging,
Hanging on a Muslim Holiday!
In a noose, he'll be dyin',
CNN, they'll be cryin',
Can't kill Kurds no more,
When he drops through the door,
Hanging on a Muslim Holiday!
Come on people, I know you've got it in you. Someone finish it...
"Need I say it?"
OMG! Our enemy within.
You removed that.
And, of course, they didn't attack us on OUR holy days... right?
Good riddance.
