Arkansas was a State that used to have some of the worst highways in the nation. When Mike Huckabee was Governor in Arkansas, under his leadership, a major restoration of the highway system took place.
The Club for Growth is complaining that a 4-cent tax on diesel fuel was assessed to fix the roads in Arkansas. However, over 80% of the voters in Arkansas supported that measure. Today, Arkansas has some of the best roads in the nation.
In light of what happened with the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, we can appreciate Governor Huckabee for his leadership in Arkansas in the repair of the road system, otherwise, such a tragedy could have happened in Arkansas too.
Of all the presidential candidates, Mike Huckabee is the ONLY candidate with a positive and extensive record on transportation. As a President, he will make sure that we have safer roads and safer bridges.

Another politician tripping over himself to get some of the limelight from the bridge collapse.
I’m still wondering why this thread doesn’t have a vanity tag attached to it.
Fortunately Huckabee hasn’t a chance in the primaries.
I am from NW Arkansas, too and I really don’t know what the improvement was. I can’t think of a single issue the state moved right while he was governor.
Bill Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas when the roads were deteriorating !!!
You are certainly right: if Mike Huckabee was personally bragging about his accomplishments concerning the improvement of the roads and bridges while he was Governor in Arkansas, in order to capitalize on the tragedy of the collapse of the bridge in Minnesota, that would not speak very highly about Mike Huckabee’s character. However, this post on Free Republic is not connected in any way with Mike Huckabee himself or anyone working for him. As a matter of fact, I (BplusK/Andre) have never met Mike Huckabee in person: I am just a concerned citizen who appreciates a good governor and who can see that Mike Huckabee would also be a good president.
