Yes. It’s like assigning directions to the crevasses in the crust of a freshly baked apple pie. IMHO, the Hayward and Calaveras faults are part of the same “system”, yet separate enough from the San Andreas to be considered “distinct”, but all part of the regional phenomenon.
The only question remaining, is, after millions of years, do my ashes end up in Alaska or Mexico? I find some comfort in this knowledge, considering that I have just planted three Redwood trees, which, according to local zoning ordinances, should not have to be replaced for 4,000 years. This lifts a great burden.

I would say that Dublin would feel it as much as Walnut Creek, if not moreso.
To: BurbankKarl

“Heavy shaking here in Santa Cruz, long duration ( ~ 20 seconds ), amplitude increased towards end (that’s when I grabbed the kid and stood in a door frame ).
Felt stronger than 5.6...a lot stronger. At least here on the coast.”
Sure did. I’m in Watsonville, and it reminded me of 1989 all over again... It just kept going and going and going.
I called downstairs for my daughter and we were just about to run outside when it finally subsided.

We do what we have to do, under the circumstances.

OK, give me her number, and I’ll console her!
