Trying to create a scandal over Republican presidential candidate John McCain's failure to rebuke a woman supporter who called Hillary Clinton a bitch, CNN's Rick Sanchez led Tuesday night's Out in the Open with what he insisted was the relevant and newsworthy topic as he seriously asked: Is John McCain done as a result of this? He later speculated: Is his campaign dead in the water?
Betraying the skew of those at CNN, Sanchez told guest Amy Holmes: He could be in trouble for this from women, especially the ones that've been talking to me today in our newsroom who heard this and were offended. Sanchez's spin matched that of left-wing bloggers, a story in Wednesday's New York Times revealed: The clip began showing on Web sites like Salon.com, the liberal site TPM.com and others, with bloggers asking why Mr. McCain had not taken the questioner to task.
Setting up the video, Sanchez haughtily intoned: You're going to hear a McCain supporter. She refers to Hillary Clinton using really what is a horrible word that is used to do nothing but demean women. Well, at the time, it was a supporter who said that. It wasn't until later on, when we watched the whole tape, which is what you're about to see, that you see McCain's reaction, or lack thereof, that we decided that this is both relevant and newsworthy, and important information to this campaign.
An older woman at an event in South Carolina had asked: How do we beat the bitch? An appalled Sanchez complained: He says 'that's an excellent question,' after somebody refers to Hillary Clinton as a B-word which rhymes with witch.

NO, This is Hillarys bitch.
On December 10, 1990, Sanchez struck a pedestrian, Jeffrey Smuzinick, with his car on a residential street near Dolphin Stadium after Smuzinick allegedly darted into the road.[2] Smuzinick, who was inebriated at the time of the incident, was paralyzed and a few years later died from his injuries.[2] Sanchez, who had just left an NFL football game, was not charged with causing the accident, but was charged with and pleaded no contest to DUI

As far as I'm concerned... they can hold hands while being flushed.

Mr. Sanchez had already survived what would ordinarily be a career-killer*. While leaving a Miami Dolphins game with his father in 1990, Mr. Sanchez struck a drunken pedestrian, who later died of his injuries. According to police, Mr. Sanchezs own blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit, and he left the scene before returning. He ultimately pleaded no contest to a D.U.I. charge, but avoided jail time, and even remained on the air.
Asked about the incident, Mr. Sanchezs Ron Burgundy jocularity vanished in an instant. I dont see where that has anything to do with anything, he said, and called the inquiry a hatchet question.

I happened accidentally to tune into CNN, which I never actually watch, and wound up watching for a minute or two some idiot featurette which was full of cartoony animations of political figures flexing their muscles, etc, all with the host’s cutesy voice-over commentaries.
CNN was never any good, but THIS, for god’s sake, was ridiculous.
I don’t see how that “term” demeans women? I mean does the term asshole demean men? If Hillary supporters are going to cry every time she gets called a bitch, then I honestly think a lot more people will question if they want a woman for president.
You’re right; all women have bitch potential and if they have a bad day, and are hateful, then for that moment, they are a bitch. I can’t help that Hillary lives up to her potential more often than any other woman in the free world ;).
It seems a little hypocritical to me to say that you can lead the country, but you cry foul when you get called a name....If that were the case, President Bush would never get out of bed. He’d still be reeling from the “shrub” insults thrown by Maureen Dowd years ago.
In my opinion, Hillary has really done a poor job of representing herself as a “strong” woman since this is the second or maybe third time she or her supporters (and we all know where CNN stands) have basically whined and cried over poor little Hillary being called names, or being ganged up against by those mean ole boys (I wonder if she is elected and world leaders disagree with her, will she play the same tactic - those mean ole boys ganging up on her. They said she had the cooties.), etc.
Yep cant stand his pompous ass.
And the let him back on TV? Why, you get bigger trashing for using a bad word.
Wow, now there is an unbiased audience to choose from.
Exactly. If Hillary wants to play with the big boys, she’s gotta let go of the whining.
Another Hillary campaign plant?
Just sayin’.
Hmmmmm??
Actually, while I’m not a McCain guy...I think it was a perfectly reasonable question with perfectly reasonable answer.
I had the misfortune to be exposed to CNN during a long wait in a hospital lounge —it was simply amazing—all DNC talking points all the time.
