These live mission threads are some of the best. For the most part, politics and ideology goes out the window.

Anybody remember sitting up till 4 AM to watch a spacecraft crash into an asteroid?

I can’t usually ‘do’ live threads AND watch an event, but I was up waiting to see that astroid interception. Cheers to our Navy and hopefully cheers to NASA.

No, but when I was 15 y.o., I did get up at 2 a.m. ET June 2, 1966, to watch live coverage of Surveyor 1's landing.
