Living a life of ‘service’ means nothing to me when it is attached to her lifelong selfishness of wanting to enjoy the fruits of life while she has so brutally murdered someone. You cannot rectify murder. This was not an abusive partner, a cheating partner with a heat of the moment response or self defense. This is as cold as it gets. And to think Susan or “Sadie” took part in the murder of a 8 months pregnant woman of all the victims to be had in this tragedy stands out all the more. So I ask people like you-if you were in Susan’s place why would you seek your release and why would you even want to be released? Shameless, period.

Without redemption, there is no forgiveness.

As believers in Christ, we know He redeemed all sin, so forgiveness is possible.

With respect to the murderer in prison, has she redeemed herself to society for the criminal acts she was sentanced for violating?

Remember, her crime was against the State, the lawgiver. What has she done to redeem herself for those violations? If time served is sufficient, then the State may forgive her. If insufficient, then she still needs redemption.

Her incarceration doesn’t mean she is to be hated, but a vile person who refuses to redemption from criminal behavior should also not be given the same rights and privileges as those who love their fellow man, if for no other reason than for the right of life to be enforced for the public.

I can forgive her and still see no problem in her continued incarceration for the safety of the public.

"...and made whatever efforts are possible to repair the damage to the surviving kin of her victims, then perhaps those survivors may find it in their hearts to show Christian compassion to her...

Bingo. It's up to the families of the survivors to offer forgiveness, not a bunch of strangers that Atkins never did anything to. It's really easy to offer forgiveness on behalf of others when you weren't one of the people victimized by these criminal hyenas, which were the family members of the victims, aside from the victims themselves.

Why do total strangers disconnected from these crimes feel it is their place to offer her forgiveness? Quite presumptuous, imo. It's up to the victim's families to forgive perps, not strangers.

Some people have posted articles showing that some families of murder victims forgive their family member's murderer. Not sure how that helps their argument in this case. They need to post a link showing that the families of the Manson family victims want Atkins to be shown mercy because they all forgive her, otherwise, they are presuming to forgive Atkins when it isn't really their place to forgive her in the first place.

Meant to say "it's up to the families of the victims..."

Look, We all agree here that what she and the others did was horrific. I too have seen the crime scene and autopsy photos.

I am pro death peanalty. They were sentenced to death, was was commuted to life after the supreme court decided that the death penalty was unconstitutional.

You asked if I would want to be let out of prison if in her shoes. The answer to that is heck yes and so would you.

Like I said before. When it comes down to it, the brass tacks so to speak, In the end it is between her and God. You and I may never forgive her for what she did, but if she is sincere and and has turned her life over to God, and asked God for forgivness, it does not matter what we think she will go to heaven. That’s the bottom line.

She probably well knows that she will die right where she is now. It is common for prisoners like her to ask for a compassion release.

You don’t want to release her. Fine you are entitled to your opinion I respect that.

I can forgive people for murder or crimes committed while insane.who show genuine remorse and try to turn around.thats why we have parole boards.but there are some crimes that are so beyond the pale that there can be no release or forgiveness, and this is one.

Leave mercy to god and let this creature die in jail

WarDaddy....I’ve been accused of many things in my life, but believe me when I tell you that I am NOT passive aggressive. I will tell you, point blank, what I think and I will do what I think is right. What on Earth have I done or said that would lead you to that bizarre conclusion? I think you’re using the term wrong.

I don’t know what Jews believe, nor do I care. Yaelle explains it above if you’re interested. I know what I believe and what I’m learning from going to Church...and it ain’t what you guys are selling.

no one “deserves” anything - that is why it is a gift of grace.
“Can” she be forgiven? I have no doubt Christ desires the salvation of all souls.
“Will” she be forgiven? That is between her and God.

If this were not about a woman in jail, no one would care.

I have never ever seen a thread on FR about some man dying in jail.

But they do and this one I knew personally. He was a wise guy but never butchered a 9 months pregnant woman.

“Paulie “No Legs” Hankish.....died Petersburg FCI in 1998.

And he cowboyed up like man and died well in the prison infirmary accompanied by his son and a couple of decent PAs. He didn’t expect any quarter either.

You won’t get sympathy from me for this woman...no way.

“You asked if I would want to be let out of prison if in her shoes. The answer to that is heck yes and so would you.”

That answer says it all. I’d like to add that you attempting to pull me into this is beyond your limits. I would rightfully deserve to fry if I did something like Susan did. And, quite frankly, it would be nothing but selfishness and a sign that you really don’t want to take on responsibility if you want to be let out after being responsible of an unjustifiable, horrendous act such as Susan took part in. And, yes, it is between her and God, but on this earth she gets the penalty for taking someone else’s life in her hands. It’s called justice. The next life is the true meaning of her sincerity and heart.

We are on the same page. Forgiveness must be sought, with appropriate concrete indicators of sincerity, in order for it to be granted. Otherwise it’s one hand clapping.

Some of us are Old Testament Christians as well as New. Being for justice is not anti-Christian and your smugness is repellent.

Why don’t they just execute her now and save taxpayers money and having to hear about the Manson crew. Who cares she is dying and who cares she has one leg. The innocent people she murdered didn’t get any consideration.
