Manson follower Susan Atkins DENIED compassionate release today

Posted on 07/15/2008 7:47:16 PM PDT by Lizavetta

Just saw it on AP. She's been hospitalized since March, has only one leg, has terminal cancer and a few months to live, and was denied a "get out of jail" card by the California Board of Prison Terms.

Thank you, Board of Prison Terms commissioners. You did the right thing.

Fair enough. This case however is not beyond my limits lets just get that right ok? ;-). Lets just say that I would not lose sleep if she was let out to go home to die.

And, yes, it is between her and God, but on this earth she gets the penalty for taking someone else’s life in her hands. It’s called justice. The next life is the true meaning of her sincerity and heart.

Excellent answer, if I had committed a cold blooded murder but had asked God to forgive me I think I would want to show my repentance by serving my sentence. If God chose to allow me to go home to die(and He could) it would be His mercy, I don't think I would push for it.

"Her incarceration doesn’t mean she is to be hated, but a vile person who refuses to redemption from criminal behavior should also not be given the same rights and privileges as those who love their fellow man, if for no other reason than for the right of life to be enforced for the public.

I can forgive her and still see no problem in her continued incarceration for the safety of the public."

That's what I'm talking about.

"I know what I believe and what I’m learning from going to Church...and it ain’t what you guys are selling."

Then, you aren't learning one dang thing.

Can you expound on that statement?

From your posts, I thought you are Jewish. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

Please provide a link. I didn't read the entire thread.

Are you a Messianic Jew?

If not, then please quit trying to pass yourself off as Christian.

I never thought someone would stoop so low, especially when all I'm preaching is mercy. I never said I was Christian...but I am going to Church because of the love and forgiveness message I hear. I find great comfort there in these troubling times. The fact that you have to stoop so low to maintain your point is very sad. I have not said anything disprespectful on this thread, but yet I've been attacked personally. It's classic. I said this is what works for me. Mercy and forgiveness is, whether you believe it or not, what is preached in Church and I'm surprised I even have to remind ANYONE of that. Why is it so important for you to be right? Why are you so angry?

Hildy...you’re passive agressive

Here is the Webster definition of Passive Aggressive: the expression of negative feelings, resentment, and aggression in an unassertive passive way (such as through procrastination and stubbornness)

You must be thinking of some other term and the reason I keep rebuting you on this is because I take pride in that I am honest and I will ALWAYS tell you where I stand. I don't pussyfoot around.

I have told everyone here, in no uncertain terms, what I feel and where I'm coming from and even, why I FEEL like I do. That is, actually, the OPPOSITE of passive aggressive.

Because I'm doing it in a less antagonistic manner than your side is, doesn't make me passive aggressive, it just makes me polite.

I'm sorry that in your life all the women are passive aggressive. I'll explain why. Women are wired to be the peacemakers. We're the nurturers and our instincts and our job is to keep the family together. Alot of women tend to keep their mouths shut when they are upset...but, as you know, that anger always comes out in a different form. It sounds like you have been on the receiving end of that misplaced anger.

That being said, you can ask ANYONE in my life. If I have a problem with you...YOU KNOW what that problem is. And we work it out. I don't believe in spending one minute sitting in anger and resentment. I did that when I was young and it did not work for me.

What I find is that the other people, especially men, appreciate the honesty. Women are another animal. But if I have an issue with you and it's big enough that it's troubling me, either I work it out or you're not in my life.

Again, it comes down to forgiveness. Either you forgive someone 100% in your heart or you have to let that relationship go. Hard feelings always resurface if not dealt with. And, usually, in a passive aggressive manner.

Have a great day. And I mean that. ;)

I hope she really repented. I hope she’s really forgiven. I hope she goes to Heaven when she dies. I hope she dies in jail.

"I never said I was Christian"

However, you decided to judge us as Christians.

"You people are unbelievable. Such hate in your heart. I’m just surprised because I thought FReepers are Christians and I thought Christians had forgiveness in their hearts. I guess I’m wrong."

So...you question, after all of your posts on FR, that you may be disingenuous?

Both of these posts of yours were pulled from the same thread...this same thread.

The funniest thing is that you might think you would get away with it.

I have no words to express my disappointment in you.

You have no words to express you disappointment in me? I'm shattered. I wasn't judging AS a Christian I was judging by what I know about Christianity. Why you need to argue my beliefs and faith is beyond me.

For the very last time I said I understand how people here could not want her to be released from prison. What I can't understand is the feeling of wanting her, after 37 years in prison to die a painful and miserable death after she has, by all accounts, faithfully come to God and done good works in prison.

I've been polite about it. You haven't. Why are you so angry about this? Is makes no sense. If you just want to fight...pick on someone else...

It's also strange to me how many people take arguments and disagreements from past threads, some from years ago, and use that animosity in new discussions. I'll be honest with you. There are maybe one or two people here I remember when I had a disagreement. Once I'm off the thread, it's gone. That proves what I said about not harboring bad feelings in my heart. It gets you nowhere. I suggest you learn to control your anger and resentment. You give the rest of us women a bad name.

I see what you’re so upset about. OK, I go to Church. I was born a Jew but now I’m going to Church because of the message of love, forgiveness and mercy I hear there. I don’t consider myself Christian yet, as I haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior...yet. However, it appears I’ve learned more in a year of going to church than most here have learned in a lifetime. If that sounds sanctimonious to you, so be it.

It's not my business and I hope your faith leads you to salvation from wherever you can attain it.

But today so many folks confuse Christianity with just being nice and good deeds.

Nothing could be further from the truth. It involves an unabashed and emphatic belief that Jesus truly is the Son of God sent here to absolve us of our sins and that we should believe in this and accept it without qualification. Folks understand this completely and the rest will follow.

The notion that Jesus expected folks to get all mushy and other worldly is a result of this obsession on the deeds aspects which is something liberal denominations fixate on because it suits them.

Traditionalists like myself still pay heed to the laws give to God to your people which is the foundation from which all this springs.

That brings many other ideas and laws into play besides good works.

Honesty.

Loyalty.

Truth

Justice

Judgment

Valor

Obedience

Diligence

and so forth....charity and compassion are great but they are but one part of the picture.

anyhow...sorry for the rant...and Good Luck.

Try a serious Charismatic church just to get a good view of conservative Christianity...lots of music and praise but strong attention to rules of behavior, cultural problems and an appreciation and adherence to the Old Covenant too which came from your tribe

and no I don't know what happens to those never exposed to the word....babies, remote savages, folks before the Hebrews and Christ...but I think God in his wisdom has a plan.

I hope that translates into a change in your public stance on abortion here. If not, then we are going to have to come get you and drag you to the right church.

I’ve been following this exchange and frankly I’m appalled. This woman has one leg, can’t get out of bed, is months from death and she’s denied compassionate release?

And when you ask (quite rightly) where is the mercy and forgiveness, the discussion turns really ugly, right?

Take my advice, Hildy: wash your hands of this thread, shake the dust off your sandals, and find something positive to do with your day.

I’m ashamed of the vengeful attitude of some of the people on this thread. I can’t find that kind of viciousness in my Bible anywhere.

The Manson girls on guns.

Maybe if they spent less time “making love” to their guns and actually firing them, ol’ Squeaky Fromme would have known to chamber a round on an automatic and her gun wouldn't have gone “click” when she attempted to shoot Gerald Ford.
