Americans take liberty for granted- and cannot see what erodes the structure of freedom is dependence on the government. Then you have people on our side who still think politics is a game..like a sport and laugh it up while they debate with so called liberals. You have people like O'Reilly who are just now putting two and two together and still can't fathom that there is a shadow government controlling the Dem party.
The left has successfully programed everyone to believe that there is a shadow government on the right while all the while developing their own throughout the decades. Look at how they have successfully raped us all through Fannie and Freddie....the level of cooperation is ominous and is worldwide.

It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native criminal class except Congress. Mark Twain

I wonder if they’re going to touch on my gig at all or let that go until they get a new POTUS/Congress next February.

We have only the choice as to whether to face financial Armageddon now or later. If the rescue is voted up it might be postponed until later. If it is voted down Armageddon will immediately happen. In any event, sooner or later, it will happen. We have had tremendously horrid leadership both in Congress and in the Executive. Since I voted for the last republican Congress and the present executive I am all the more outraged by the fiscal insanity exercised by both. One might expect the ignorant socialist demagogues in the democrat party to behave in the manner that they do but to be betrayed by so-called conservatives in the republican party is contemptible. Oh, yes, they tried to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but it was half hearted at best. They ignored if not encouraged wild credit creation in the late 90’s and 2000’s. They knew or should have known that it would eventually lead to a catastrophe, but they simply hoped that they would be long retired at tax payers expense before the sword of Damocles descended. I include my own republican senators and republican president in this condemnation.

Dodd has no business chairing this hearing. He and Frank need to be called out for roles in this debacle.

Like putting Gorlick on the 9/11 commission.
She’s sure been busy.

That Dodd and Frank aren’t calling in sick and hiding their heads in shame somewhere is an indicator of the depths to which morals have sunk- couched in terms of a feel-good society.

I agree. But where are the Republicans on this? If they were to expose this corruption we could win seats this election.... unless of course there are enough dirty hands to go around. This entire mess needs to be blown wide open and let the chips fall where they may.

Starting now- Dodd’s opening statement.

If they vote down bailing out homeowners (further) than the Republicans will be redeemed. I have no sympathy for the remaining homeowners who did not refi...the program is already in place for that. No big golden parachutes for AIG CEOs either. Put regular citizens in charge of oversite.
Vote ia a whole new Congress...if Wall street must go down and peoples life savings deleted, then liquidate and tear down Fannie/Freddie brick by brick. Prosecute criminals in our party and theirs. No exceptions.

It’s almost amusing to listen to Dodd describe the debacle that his policies and his dishonesty have wrought.

Last time I looked over 90% of homeowners with mortgages were making their payments on time. I don’t think those folks are going to want to bail out the rest, either.
