Something every gun owner in the U.S.A. should own?

Posted on 11/25/2008 8:21:00 AM PST by KyGeezer

We've bought guns and supported gun rights with our votes this year. But, is there something else we can do? I think there is.

There are two publicly owned gun manufacturers...Smith and Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) and Strum, Ruger and Co., Inc. (RGR). Shouldn't we all own a piece of them?

Both company's stocks are in the toilet. S&W is trading around $2.00 a share and Ruger around $5.00. In Aug. '07, S&W hit a high of $22.80. Ruger at the time hit $22.58.

I think it's high time we all have a framed stock certificate for these companies hanging on a dining room wall. Don't you?

Why, what makes the M&P line a target?

Maverick 88 20 gage pump (made by mossberg). #177 each ... buy two and order slug barrels to alternate practice with. Cut one or both original barrels to 18 1/2 inches and smooth the burrs off the ends of the barrels. Alternately, order one slug barrel and cut one barrel of original off then put the slug barrel on the other gun and save the 26 inch original for use if you ever go duck or turkey hunting. Load with at least #5 long range ammunition, or #3 buckshot, for home defense.

M&P rifles.

M&P pistols have more than 10 rounds in a magazine so I figure the magazines will be banned or LEO restricted soon enough.

There isn't one Ruger that I like. Not one.

S&W on the other hand, they're different.

I guess it’s true, you either love them or hate them. But I’ve heard that said of S&W as well.

You said...

BAD IDEA.

These stocks have been more volatile than a saucepan full of gasoline over an open fire oven range.

Come Jan21st when the assault weapons bill is voted and passed, S&W is going to lose an entire division (M&P) to bans.

So you think S&W insiders are nuts for buying 51,002 shares this year and a director at Ruger blew $98,489 November 21st after other Ruger insiders bought 62,812 shares this year?

Yep. Pass excessive tax bills against ammo and the barrier for entry for a new shooter goes up and up and way up until shooting is about as common as say parachuting. (Love doing both by the way)

I actually have a trebuchet. Will toss pie pumpkin or other 3 to 5 lb projectiles 150 yards with ease.

I like medieval weapons of mass destruction.

Something every gun owner in the U.S.A. should own? Ammo?

Someone very close to me should be recieving a shipment of ammo tomorrow. He's still armed, but I've sold all mine. I have plenty of rocks on my property that I can throw. I can even toss a steak knife if I need to take it up a notch.

What every gun owner in the US should own is an NRA membership.

Yes. And a Gun Owners of America membership as well, though I think that the NRA is more effective.

All my guns fell off a boat into the Marianas Trench last week.

Whereabouts, exactly? I'll hunt them down just like I've been hunging those elusive snipes all these years.
