Little girl preserved in 1500s tomb packed with mummies - pictures
By Emily Nash 30/01/2009
Resting peacefully in her coffin you'd think she'd died yesterday.
But this little girl called Rosalina passed away in 1920 and her body has been kept perfectly preserved in a tomb packed with mummies that was first used in the 16th century.
The pretty two-year-old, her matted blonde hair tied up with a ribbon, died of a bronchial infection.
She is one of 2,000 mummified bodies buried in a catacomb at Palermo, Sicily.

May be of interest.
I must admit that the idea of having my dead body stick around for years, slowly rotting away, gives me the creeps. Cremation for me, I says...........
Cremation isn’t biblical. Your body is your temple including your skeleton (fearfully and wonderfully made) and it will be restored in the rapture. It is not to be burned (symbolic of hell) in fire.
I’m with you. No desire for anything being around after.
Ideally I would like to be put in a low decaying orbit and burn up in the atmosphere. A shooting star.
Poor little thing.
wow if true.
The little girl was adorable.
It is creepy though/
I’ve always wondered. What about the saints who were burned at the stake for their faith? Or who died at sea? Or died from some other form of dismemberment? Surely they’ll not be forgotten?
Can’t wait to show my daughter this.
it’s 2009 and it’s a fascinating if morbid view into cultures long ago. i don’t think it’s gross , it’s just the way it is and was
Or not.
I suppose God can figure out how to put me back together. He’s pretty smart.
Thanks for the pic!
I want my body put on display so’s in 100,200,300 years people will walk by or see me in a book and say the same thing you did.
We will get glorified bodies. The Bible speaks of the sea giving up its dead. So wherever we are, He will get us and knit us back together in a perfect incorruptible body
Ping.
Hmm, what happens to people who get burned to death, like, in a forest fire?
Better still, what happens when one person's body is composed of matter that once comprised another person's body?
