The Taliban on Thursday threatened "harsh reprisals" if Pope Benedict XVI does not immediately intervene to stop Christians proselytising in Afghanistan.
In a message posted on their official website, the Taliban made the threat against the pope and Christians for spreading their faith.
The message followed video footage aired on Arabic satellite TV channel Al-Jazeera earlier this week apparently showing Christian soldiers proselytising outside the Afghan capital, Kabul, and handing out copies of the bible in Pashtun.
"We are sending out a message to the most important personality in the Christian world - Pope Benedict XVI," read the message.
"If he does not immediately stop these stupid and irresponsible acts of proselytism by the crusaders, our reprisals and that of the Afghan people will be very harsh.

Poor Taliban, I guess we have to go over there and use their method of spreading religion, the “convert or we will kill you” method. Such little men, they have to continually control their women under the guise of protection. It will be interesting to see how far they will get by threatening the Pope. Unfortunately there is no Holy Land there to bring in the Crusaders. Just what the world needs, a Holy War! Jihad! Kill For God! When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn.

Interesting that they made such a statement and it’s not even “Islam day” yet
Islam will never be more than a fringe rebellious movement among educated people who have access to knowledge of all religions.
The Taliban must use force, because they can never win in the battle of ideas or search for truth.
Sounds to me like they are actually looking for another Crusade.

As in Iran, there must be a fair amount of conversions going on.
Threatening the Vicar of Christ is pretty safe.
He’s not going to issue a edict to behead them.
“Forgive them, they know not what they do.”
There are people on the left who ACTUALLY believe that it is the Christians and the Catholic church in particular doing the forceful conversions. Delusions delusions.
That’s what happens to your mind when you repeatedly screw a goat.
I pray, every day, for the conversion of muslims to Christianity. So are many, many others. The prayers of the faithful are bearing fruit!
Not to worry, the Muslims, being members of the Religion of Peace, simply want an agreement with the Pope, where Christianity won’t be promoted in Islamic nations, and in a repicrocal manner, Islam won’t be promoted in Christian nations. After all, wouldn’t it be really one-sided and unfair if proselytization were only permitted in one direction?
I have a deal. Get every last mosque, and imam, and muslim OUT of my judeo-christian country, never to return, and we’ll leave your little religious sandbox alone.
