Fox News is reporting that Obama now wants to block the release of detainee abuse photographs taken in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ACLU filed suit to have the photographs released and the Pentagon was about to comply with court orders. Obama met with his legal team to tell them that he does not feel comfortable with the release of those photographs because he believes it could endanger our troops and that the national security implications of releasing the photographs have not been fully presented to the court. At the end of the meeting, Obama directed his legal counsel to object to the immedate release of the photographs on those grounds.

I have tacked less in a sailing race.
There is plenty to criticize, but I don’t think we should criticize the man when he makes the right decision.
Washington DC is a world of make-believe segregated from the rest of the country, as well as reality. It’s like the last days in Hitler’s bunker, only on a much larger scale.
I’m a cynic. This is based on democrats provably briefed on all of this.
It finally dawned on Obama that he would be held responsible for any American deaths and injuries resulting from release of the photos. Our troops in the field, our embassies and consulates, US businesses abroad, amerrican tourists, etc. could well become targets. And Obama would have a hard time blaming this on Bush. When the rubber meets the road, Obama doesnt want to held responsible for anything.
agreed... I want the best for our soldiers in the field.. and this development is a good thing for our soldiers. I am very happy about this...thank you Prez O... not happy about the release of the memos... but I’ll take what I can get.
Nice graphic.
Obama did a wimpy turn around thanks to Cheney, and Lynn Jr. who could kick Obama’s butt in a debate. Maybe now some of the dirt kicked up will settle down.
This will turn around yet again.
This is smoke and mirrors by Obama and his tribe of crooks.
They want them out, they simply want to be able to argue both sides of the issue.
Without those said photos posted, you really have no point.
Now get to it, chop-chops!
Some things were not meant to be shared.
Gates just testified that McKiernan and Odierno both said that releasing the photos would not be a good thing.
Sounds like the on-scene commanders also pushed back - hard.
Thanking Obama for this decision is like thanking the Iranian regime for releasing the US reporter.
I totally agree - plus his reasons have got to be self-serving - that’s the only reason he does anything.
Who took the damn pictures in the first place? I expect they are of the waterboarding, and agree that they probably aren't as bad as the left hopes.
So he’ll punt to the Court and then say he had no choice.
“Now is the time for Republicans to attack.”
Who, Cheney or Rush? Most of the GOP is making a beeline to the “Center.”
“WELL DUH.......havent we been saying that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Yes, but we don’t have a ‘D’ after our names.
Is it me, or does O like to make the threat, gauge the reaction, and then retract it? He seems to be doing it a lot lately.
It’s how he votes “present” while being the “chief decision maker of the executive branch”.
