Did eyes evolve by Darwinian mechanisms? (Yet another area where evolution is being falsified)
Journal of Creation ^ | Jerry Bergman, Ph,D.

Posted on 08/17/2009 1:26:14 PM PDT by GodGunsGuts

The evolution of the eye has always been a dilemma for evolutionists from Darwin’s time to the present. Although Darwin, Richard Dawkins and other evolutionists have tried to explain how an eye could evolve, their solutions are clearly unsatisfactory. Many kinds of eyes exist, but no progression of eye designs from simple to complex can be produced in the natural or fossil world. Furthermore, the simplest ‘eye’, the eyespot, is not an eye but pigmented cells used for phototaxis; yet even it requires an enormously complex mechanism in order to function as a vision system...

"What does “difficult’ or “easy” have to do with it? Truth is truth, regardless of whether it is easy or hard..."

For centuries, disease was thought to be punishment from God. Somebody had to go against this "truth", and through open inquiry and HARD WORK, an understanding of microbes, parasites, viruses, hygine and a hundred other things contributing to human health was gained. Literally, people DIED gaining this knowledge, while I am sure that devout priests railed against defying God's will. Who was seeking "truth"? The priests or scientists?

Ben Franklin gave the world the Lightning Rod, and showed that lightning was not the pre-ordained strike of God's hand, but an understandable facet of nature. Who was seeking "truth"? The local pastors telling Ben he was messing with God's plan or Franklin?

Galileo took painstaking measurements with his telescope, and other instruments at his disposal, and concluded the Earth was not the center of everything. For his trouble, he was placed under house arrest by priests. Who was seeking "truth"? The priests or Galileo?

Here's the deal: When a scientist proposes or examines a theory that makes predictions, they go about the often difficult business of gathering the data to test it. The theory of evolution makes predictions about the sort of things you will find in the fossil record. It takes REAL WORK to go out in the field, dig in areas, painstakingly cleaning, cataloging and studying finds, reading the journels of other's work in the field to keep up and other things. It is REAL EASY to sit back and be critical of that work. You think everything was created full blown, all at one time? No problem, go out and find fossils of people and dinos mixed together. THAT'S work.

Virtually all the useful knowledge that Mankind has gained has come at the cost of hard work, dedication and lives lost. "Truth" is rarely "easy" or "convenient".

Evo's arguments reveal a gross & willful misunderstanding of God's Word.

Doesn't matter is you believe, God IS the Creator of All. You'll be long gone and God's Word will still be standing.

You will be a thorn in their side when they meet their Creator because when they say “I didn’t know” they will be reminded of you. They will have no defense for their ignorance of Truth.

it would make sense to me

You are using your natural senses to understand the supernatural. Can't happen.

I look to Intelligent Design for answers. There is an intelligence at work that we cannot comprehend—an Intelligence we call God.

Are you saying the fossil record is super natural? Is everything? I'm not a big fan of superstition and magic.

The local pastors telling Ben he was messing with God's plan

Messing w/God's plan? God created the lightning! It was there all along. Ben didn't create lightening - he found a use for it that was God's plan all along. "For I know what you need before you ask"

And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.

If God judges us based on whether we agreed with creationism or especially someone on an internet forum, then the universe and God are pretty unworthy things.

Did Mozart’s music exist before he did? If so, why should we bother to do anything if it’s all there anyway someplace?

Your theology is bordering on the absolutism and lack of free will that islam has.

Then how do you suppose they know so much about the eyes of trilobites?

At a rough guess: because eye lenses made of calcite crystals fossilize remarkably easily.

When did eyes first appear and was it only in one animal?

If I understand presently-no-screen-name correctly, he’s saying you won’t be able to hide behind evolution as an excuse for your unbelief when you stand before the judgement that we all know is coming.

I'm not a big fan of superstition and magic.

Me neither, but heathens are.

Are you saying the fossil record is super natural?

Your lack interpretation skills w/that comment. I'll let you be so you can enjoy being deceived in thinking that there are no answers other than you can see/feel/hear/touch. It leaves you limited to Truth.

There are people and religions which do not believe in judgement that way, so ‘all’ don’t believe that.

Also, if believing in evolution means you go to hell, the entire planet might as well go up now since more and more people take it as a scientific fact.

Anyway, I don’t believe it is any barrier to anyone’s faith. It’s really such a nonissue in the scheme of things.

I know exactly what you’re saying. ‘If it’s not in the Bible, it’s not worth investigating’. Again, very much like how much of islam works for them.

That's the observation of someone who imagines himself enlightened, and enjoys that other are not.

Did animals have eyes in the Precambrian periods?

I didn’t say people go to Hell for believing in evolution, I’m saying you won’t be able to hide behind evolution as an excuse for your unbelief. And btw, virtually all religions believe in some form of future judgememt.

Yeah, they kept saying they were going to drag me down to their headquarters in the middle of the earth where they had dastardly evil machines that would make me accept the ‘truth’ of their science. It’s lucky I broke away when I did. If it hadn’ta been for them church-goers who rescued me, I might be tied to some infernal rack being tortured right now as we speak.
