It will just be a string of insults on how you and all conservatives are just heartless and cruel, and don’t want to help people, blah, blah, blah.

Boy I got a good fight going on Facebook the other day between two friends of mine that don’t know each other. All I did was post a Mark Steyn article. It was rather funny but quite uncomfortable for me. You’ll have to report back what your friend replies with if you feel comfortable doing so. Hopefully it will be entertaining.

She will say that government is the way that we can most fully try to help the poor; and that we are morally obliged to try, even if all that we accomplish is to so save some and keep things overall from getting worse. Our aspirations count, not the failure to achieve the results we hope for.

Why hasn’t $7 Trillon dollars thrown at poverty since
LBJ solved the poverty problem?

Why isn’t Russia the wealthiest nation? They had full guberment employment.

Why does Cuba, the darling of the sicko left, have a 3 month shortage of toilet paper. They too have full guberment employment.

On and on it goes... The leftist's argument is easily defeated with fact.
But they don't like facts and they certainly dislike self reliant people who transcend poverty. It's the leftist religion, victimhood. Your friend may be beyond recovery.

"I'm constantly amazed why anyone would think that Government can solve the "problems" of the poor. Please explain this line of thinking. I would Love to know. Seriously. Maybe i'm wrong. Thanks for reply."

Ayn Rand's advise was to ask the looters "why". They very seldom have a logical reason for what they do. As a woman, it really bothers me that women make up such a large portion of the left. To many woman are born/trained to operate with no logical reason for what they do. "It's just the right thing to do." Well, WHY is it right?

Well, for what it's worth, here is Her Reply...
(Basically, it's Bush's fault and the Rich vs. Poor approach, per usual. For starters, looks like I'm going to have to dig up that Barney Frank / Fannie Mae YouTube clip again.):

HER REPLY: “Why am I happy with Obama as president? The alternative terrified me in 2008, and continues to do so. And frankly, I don't think the government CAN solve the problems of the poor - and I'm a social worker who's also a yellow-dog Democrat. But I do know that - to me - it's clear that the government can continue to solve the problems of the wealthy (...another helping of AIG, perhaps?) and ignore the problems of the poor, the unemployed, and those uninsured for health problems only at our peril. I'm also tired of the absolute lack of civility evidenced by those in the right wing such as the guy heckling during the speech. Make a clear, concise case against the left’s positions, and I'm grateful and willing to listen and consider. (I certainly am not happy with everything the left is doing.) Ad hominem, factually-unsupported attacks? Not so much. I'm jes’ sayin’ . . .. Ooh, the air up here on the soapbox is getting kinda thin (and hot. Best come down slowly . . . and tread more lightly, no?”

My Final Post to Liberal friend on FB:
_____________________

“Thoughts about the Left:

My basic problem with the Left is that they seem to want the government to do all the “work” for the American people. Big Government, Big Control and basically, they want to Intrude on American lives in any way they can dream up. They seem to relish the Power that those controls bring, not really caring about people, but caring about how They can “guide” us from any and all “despairs” that a human faces, and, if successful, they will maintain the control they seem to so desperately want.

I am basically against any type of government bailouts. Banks, car companies or anything else. In my opinion, the “credit crisis” that we now face was largely because of government’s “want” to help people buy a home on which they could not possibly sustain payments. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the underlying govt agencies that helped promote this. These were the “babies” of liberal thinking that owned over 40% of American mortgages. When others tried to warn of their over-extensive, look-the-other-way practices, the Dems blasted them as if they were criminals and uncaring thugs. I have a couple of clips portraying this behavior that typifies this line of liberal thinking and attitude(s). I will post for you at the end of this comment - involves Barney Frank and Maxine Waters from around 2005- before the banking collapse, plus a general timeline of the situation.

Some minor regulation is OK by government, but too much deters business growth and job creation. And that is what sustains this country.

Markets in general go up and go down. Always have, always will. They are already flattening now and will move upwards more rapidly in time. And the “stimulus” package has only released 10ish% of the money allocated. I consider that to be 10% too much. Giving small business tax incentives, not hikes, will cause the economy to grow and will generate more tax revenues for the government. Been there, done that.

On the healthcare issue, believing Obama and Pelosi are going to spend 100s of billions of dollars, to start, and believing that we’re going to get a better healthcare system from the government out of it, and, that it will not increase the deficit, seems quite hilarious to me. Look at Medicare and Medicaid. Their “estimated” cost is well over 10 times the 1965 estimates on a yearly inflation-adjusted basis and will be unable to keep up with usage in less than 10 years. (Heck, that’s OK, we’ll just print more money). Some changes need to be done, I agree, but I think working within the current framework by allowing such things as letting insurance companies sell across state lines is more the direction we need to go. Hopefully, before this legislation passes items like that will be included. A government-run insurance company is not the way to go. Would only squash competition and lead to more red tape.

At it’s core, Left = Big Government and, as a result, higher taxes. Which means less business incentives, which means less jobs and higher unemployment. I believe the records of history prove this to be true.

Government’s primary job is to protect this nation from foreign intruders that jeopardise our soil. So far, it’s done a pretty dang good job of that. Protecting us and our way of living. It is Not here to dictate how we live.

Obama in a nutshell: Says one thing, does another. Or has it done by his lefties in Congress. All you have to do is listen and then look at what is actually happening.

LINK I mentioned earlier about the basis for the credit housing crisis (Barney & friends):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs&feature=related

ALSO, one more - a timeline concerning that situation (I’m pretty sure that FOX was the only major news organization to cover and outline these facts - the liberal media obviously did not “harp” upon it):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPSDnGMzIdo

We are all imperfect, but I believe that Logical decisions and oversite are better than “Don’t pay any attention to that” rhetoric.

(My 2 cents worth).”
