World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama's Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.
They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.
In the middle of it all was Obama -- occupant of an office once informally known as "leader of the free world" -- putting on a clinic for some of the world's greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.
The only part of the summit, other than a post-meeting news conference, that was visible to the public was Obama's eight-minute opening statement, which ended with the words: "I'm going to ask that we take a few moments to allow the press to exit before our first session."

Whatcher complaining about, Dana? He’s been doing this to the sycophant press ever since he was inaugurated.
Did you just notice that he’s screwing you?
I live in this alternate universe where I imagine a young Woodward or Bernstein who realizes that the emperor is a nekkid Marxist. Realizing that his editors at the WaPo are old and demented, slavishly hanging on to their JFK tie pins - he decides to bypass his bosses and seize the printing presses.
He finds surprising allies in the union print shop - with a group of former military and community college students.
I said it was an alternate universe dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps. But it is more likely that is "O"'s #1 fear...
Notice the lack of beer summits lately?
"putting on a clinic for some of the world's greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press."Was misstated - fixed now:
"putting on a clinic for some of the world's greatest dictators in how to circumvent their free pass."
Just a lover’s spat.
The State Controlled Media will fall back in line.
Milbank has problems .
Probably yelling at him for his Royal Canadian Mint far surpassing our sorry US Mint. Any numismatics out there know what I’m talking about, they have ruined the mint as with everything else they touch. I hope Canada’s PM told him to take that finger out of his face or take a ass-whooping. The creep-in-chief has no class especially with our friends.
The Poster Child for Megalomania.
Someone needs to be posting this non-stop to each and every member of the CNN and MSNBC staff. For a month solid.
RUB IT IN THEIR FACES.
Especially Chrissy Matthews.
I keep hearing more and more Blacks critizing the Mocha Messiah even radicals.
Obama promised the moon on a lasso and yet...
There is no free health care.
There is no reparations.
There is no free gas.
There is no free rent.
Many Blacks and I mean poor urban Blacks are fed up with Obama and his perpetual BS.
The line is: Enough talk, pretty speeches, and promises, SHOW me the MONEY!
And they aren't likely to grow a conscience.
“....many operating in repressive countries, got the impression that the vaunted American freedoms are not all they’re cracked up to be.”
Nooooo! You don’t say!
How can any US president state that he is “fond of Pakistan”? What’s his game? Seems to me that he will be talking out of both sides of his mouth without anyone in the press to contradict him. And who are you going to believe? President Obama or the leader of another country when he (obama) contradicts that leader?
What does LE stand for?
we don’t have a Live thread on the Presser on the summit now!
#10—that is REALLY good!

Plenary Session...? Where have I heard that term before?
Seems to me like it was associated with...mmm, what was it?...Politburo? Yeah, Politburo. And, now that I think of it, it had something to do with Internationale, too...
