Flag, one of nation's oldest, causes stir after being raised over Town Common
WARREN The Warren Fire Department drew fire Friday morning when members raised one of the nations oldest - but these days, controversial - flags from one of three flagpoles they maintain at the Warren Town Common.
Their flying of the Gadsden Flag, a Revolutionary War-era flag depicting a coiled rattlesnake with the slogan "Dont Tread On Me" below it, angered some residents because though it was originally created to protest the British government prior to and during the American Revolution, it has become a symbol to some of the American Tea Party movement. That conservative movement questions many of the policies, particularly fiscal, of the federal government.
The flag was raised alongside the state and U.S. flags early Friday morning. By 10:30 a.m., Warren Fire Chief Al Galinelli had received a call about it from the town manager. By the afternoon, it was taken down.

Liberals hate America.
And they hate American Pride.
According to them, we are supposed to be ashamed of ourselves. According to the Libs(who are wealthy thanks to us), we are horrible racist people.
We need to pay reparations TO THE WHOLE WORLD, to apologize for our success.
These people are nuts. They need to be exposed and called, nuts.

A request was submitted in March to the Connecticut state police to fly the Gadsden flag over the Connecticut State capitol in Hartford. There was to be a flag raising ceremony shortly before the 4/15 Tea party rally at the state Capitol. The Police originally approved the request but the next day rescinded their decision because a flaming socialists in the state legislature objected on the false premise it was a political symbol because it was the symbol of the Tea Party movement who this person considered a political party even though the tea party was not registered with the state.
It was all the more ludicrous considering the U.N. flag, the Russian flag and a Gay Pride flag have all flown over the capitol.
Earlier last week someone else wanted to submit a request but the Police rejected it before the written request was submitted even though the supposed current policy allowed for military flags to be flown over the capitol and the Gadsden flag was adopted by the Marines in 1775. Again the socialists were behind the rejection. It is not over. The Connecticut Tea party movement will continue to press the issue. Stay tuned.

It’s high time for the “Right” to get offended. No where in the Constitution does it promise a person shall not be offended.
It’s not an entitlement, it’s not a human right. I’m offended by the “Lefts” thin skin.

I'm offended that liberal idiots are offended by the Gadsden flag. These know-knowing fools who are ignorant or dismissive of America's history shouldn't be able to control the raising of a perfectly legitimate flag in front of a local firehouse. The Chief should have held his ground.
This is all political. These 'offended' people assume the Chief was rising a flag that endorsed the 'Tea Party' and they had the kind of knee-jerk reaction typical of liberals. Sort of like vampires and the cross.

Agreed, we can, just use two words, Politically Corrupt (PC: Leninist precepts) such as when they start telling everyone what to think, say and do; if everyone believes in Leninist precepts...then no one is thinking.
