This accident was caused by a driver who, left the scene of the accident after trying to pass the motorcyclists which caused the (arrested) driver to veer into the path of the motorcyclists.

confusing enough? The man who was arrested, did not directly cause the accident.

So, a driver in a Honda was passing motorcyclists, the other, on-coming, driver (from Mexico) swerved to avoid the Honda and plowed into the bikes? Is that correct?

Yes-it is indeed confusing enough. I think the only reason they arrested the guy was that officers detected alcohol on his breath. He was tested 5 hours after the crash but results aren’t available as of the time the article was written.

And it will be impossible IMO to prove if booze played a part in how he handled his vehicle that resulted in mayhem.

Gonna be a tough trial.
Hope they find the Gold car who witnesses claim initiated the whole mess.

Wrong...Ya got an intoxicated Mexican that was impaired, that caused the accident, killing 4 motorcyclist and his own passenger.
