Shizugawa High is perched atop a hill overlooking this rural town in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Following the earthquake, the students vacated their high school structures per emergency protocol.
The entire student body was assembled outside as an enormous wall of watery black detritis, cars, homes, and buildings were transported to the base of the hill elevating their school. Finally the film shows panic-stricken individuals emerging from their homes, breaking into a dead run for their lives.
Students safe above watching incredulously call out down the hill, egging them on to run faster as the chaotic inky black rages inexorably on towards its victims.
This is what the students filmed, and this freeper made the English subtitles you will see.
Did everyone seen running make it out? It looks like a few were caught at the end of the video.
Horrible!
Cannot imagine seeing such a tragedy happening before my eyes....the cries of the people was chilling.
Terrifying to watch people fleeing, one looked like he/she was carrying a bag which probably contained their most important possessions. How sad for those involved.
Thanks, gaijin. Horrible.
just damn
Nature at its worst.....
It looked like they were struggling at the end and got someone in a wheelchair up to higher ground, but it looked like one of the people helping was getting caught in the debris before the camera went off.
Unbelievable.
Gaijin, thank you for the translations, but I wondered if the translation where someone said “It’s lies...it’s all lies” might have been saying something like “This can’t be true”
God. What a tragedy. What a tragedy. I pray for them all.
I can’t watch any more of these. It’s gotten to the point where I refuse to turn on the television. Each day there is a new tape.
I’m just over my limit on this.
Man! Those kids will have nightmares the rest of their lives by what they saw!
Oh God!
There are no words.
That’s amazing, gaijin. Thanks for sharing it with us.
How awful.
Posted just a couple hours ago and also posted several times over a few weeks ago...

In this case “ uso “ means incredible , as in this can’t really be happening .
