Typhoon approaches Japan, may threaten nuclear plant

TOKYO - JAPAN'S crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is not fully prepared to deal with violent storms, officials admitted on Saturday, as the country braced for Typhoon Songda to hit.

The storm system was located about 30km south-west of Miyako-jima island, near Taiwan, as of 3.00pm (2pm Singapore time), the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The typhoon, packing gusts up to 216kmh near its centre, is moving north-east and could hit Tokyo as early as Monday, the agency said.

It is not yet clear whether it will move towards the Fukushima Daiichi plant, more than 200km north-east of the capital.

Wow. I can’t imagine having to face another natural disaster so soon. Those poor people.

Someone did mention months earlier that the storm season might affect this place a bit much.

It seems a board game of some sort.

"Is it my turn? Okay, I'm going to attack your nuclear power plant with ... ummm ... I'm going to play my earthquake card, and I roll a ... one. Damn. Okay, I'm exercising the tsunami option which comes with the earthquake card, and I'm rolling again. It's a ... four. What does that mean? Oh, I've a meltdown going on? Cool. Let's roll again and see if that destroys the country. And it's a ... one. Drat. Okay, on my next turn I'll use my typhoon card. And if I have to, I'll go for the asteroid impact on the turn after that."

Waiting for the hand-wringer chorus to wail that we are all going to die when the radiation arrives here.

IIRC . . .

and according to my impressions . . .

—more and larger quakes

—several volcanoes

—solar ZOTs of unprecedented ferocity

—increasing economic collapse

—increasing deliberate collapsing of the food chain

plus some other stuff I’m no longer authorized to discuss.

A friend of mine brought up the thought that what if all the earthquakes we had the past year may have caused the earth to shift on its axis a degree or two.......

Why Are There So Many Natural Disasters In 2011?

" So far in 2011, we have seen a record number of tornadoes, unprecedented flooding, rampant earthquakes, disturbing volcanic eruptions and a tsunami in Japan that none of us will ever forget. So why are there so many natural disasters in 2011? Our top scientists seem to be at a complete loss to explain what is happening. It just seems like there is one disaster or emergency after another. Many Americans are getting "disaster fatigue" as the requests to donate money to various relief efforts never seem to end. There has never been a time in recent history when we have seen so many natural disasters compressed into such a short period of time. So exactly what is going on here? Is something causing all of this or is this all one big coincidence?"
