AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

if people think gardasil ‘protects’ them from hpv, they are wrong - it only protects from a few of the most common strains

As you allude, there's over 150 strains of HPV. The vast majority as easily handled by a health immune system. These vaccines target some of the worst strains which are shown to cause some cancers.

Those numbers I quoted on cervical cancer diagnoses and deaths, not just HPV infections, were from documents before the Gardasil order and presented the problem in Texas before the vaccine to provide historical context.

Except there are no long term studies on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and it doesn’t protect against all of the viruses that can cause cervical cancer.

If the science bothers you… OPT OUT.

its not the science that bothers me

its that a conservative governor’s reaction should have been to opt in - not opt out

and he wants my vote for president

It would seem to me that the excerpt you quoted, the complaint would be about the LACK OF science, not science itself.

Just saw this on FB; have had to turn Rush off and on throughout the day due to work. :( Has anyone else heard, read, or seen anything about this? If it’s true, then she’s a sick pathetic creature and I can’t wait until the White House is scrubbed of their presence.

Barack H. Oboma, the Slumlord in Chief screws Americans with his hope and change policies and vision for an impoverished America.

In 2005, the legislature made it a goal to end cervical cancer mortality in Texas by 2015. The health dept's study in 2006 said the vaccine was the way to do it but warned those needing it most were poor and lacked insurance.

"Opt in" doesn't increase access to the vaccine because it's not covered by insurance, medicaid and other programs.

"Opt out" balanced personal liberty and furthering the goal of increased access.

Science doesn’t bother me.

Politicians/bureaucrats using PSEUDO science to seize control over people bothers he** out of me, however.

I’ve only worked in the sciences for 40 years, and my last shreds of patience with that crap are long since gone.

I went and looked at the opt out process. It required several interactions with the government, notarized documents, an avowal to not have any vaccinations (the only reason allowed for opting out was that all vaccinations were wrong in your eyes), and would likely require six months or longer to complete for each child. Then you got to do it all again a year or two later.

But then the million dollar question remains...can she actually win?

I have a “my opinion” answer, it is a qualified YES.

My reasoning:

- Game Changer: If she enters she will stand apart from the rest of the field as a true, Reformer. Based on her last couple of major speeches, I detect a very well thought-out, comprehensive Reform agenda emerging. Just look at the comments on this thread and hundreds of others on FR lately, everyone is trying to figure out which of the blemished candidates currently running have the least number of blemishes, or blemishes that they can live with. (Of course we are all stepping through this process while firmly stating that we absolutely refuse to “hold our nose” again and vote for another rINO. But, we also know and insist that we must vote against the incumbent. Not too easy to rationalize both firmly heartfelt stances.) I believe that a Sarah Palin announcement will provide an answer to all of this wailing and teeth gnashing. (Of course there will not be 100% acceptance amongst all Conservatives, I am sure that it will grow from whatever level of support she will initially find. And of course, she will not be 100% pure, every human being (no less any one holding major public office) is flawed, it is out nature.) But, she will stand apart from what we have now, and many that are tiring from our current “best of flawed choices” winnowing process, will immediately embrace her candidacy.

- Unprecedented Grassroot Support: Just think about how most of us have felt since 2008. How much anger and frustration has built up? How much energy did we see going into the 2010 mid-terms? How many folks were out campaigning and voting in Primaries for the 2010s? How much of a surge did we see getting Republican (of course, some good, some not so much) candidates elected into State and Local offices?

Now, step back and think about how much more frustration and anger is slowly building again. Not only for the simple fact that our Republican House has been less than inspiring in fighting off the agenda, but how much MORE we have seen that agenda ramped up since the 2010 mid-terms. It is obvious that the regime's strategy has moved hard into implementing the agenda via regulation and EO; why bother with Congress anyway? Not a day goes by that any of us that are really paying attention see more and more of our Liberties being stripped away, and see the Tyranny solidify more and more from a “soft” state to a “harder” state.

The above is going to generate a tidal wave of grassroot support for Palin. People that have never made calls, knocked on doors, wore a T-shirt, attended a rally, or opened their check-books are going to be doing so in droves (at unprecedented levels). There are millions upon millions of us that have come to realize (based on our daily experience) two things since 2008: 1). A recognition that 2012 is indeed an existential battle for our Country, and 2). None of the “establishment” candidates (regardless of party) is going to be able to do a damn thing about it (even if they wanted to). Sarah will see this tidal wave of support grow month after month (and it won't be dependent on “polls” (or “poles” for that matter!) and even early primary results).

Now that we talked about how true Constitutional Conservatives are going to be energized and emboldened, just think about the squishy middle that will never bother to pay attention to much more than a 30-second campaign ad or MSM Headline. Many of whom voted the last time out of some sense of “white guilt,” BDS, or an inane desire to be amongst the “cool, trendy” folk. Even the most distracted and least aware members of the public know that our economy has been tanking for several years. It is so bad that the MSM really can no longer hide it. Many of them see/feel the impacts in their own lives or those around them. And for less and less of these folks, “Bush's fault” is starting to ring a lot more hollow with each passing day. Despair and that sinking feeling tend to become cumulative for most folks, and with each passing month and quarter, more and more are at least waking up to the fact that the status quo simply ain't working for them. Now, couple that with the fact that they are going to be seeing and hearing a lot of folks that are more or less “just like them” in many regards, talking about this other choice -- Sarah Palin. Sure, many of them will never publicly acknowledge their support for Sarah, and many will never spend a dime to support her. In fact many will stick to with the anti-Palin memes simply in an effort to maintain their cred with their fellows. But, don't be surprised (not in the least!) at how many of these folks will quietly pull the lever (press the button) for Palin come that early November 2012 day, in the secrecy of their local voting booth.

So, the above summarizes why I think that she can win. Let's move to the “qualified” part of my qualified YES. As a true and powerful Reformer, Sarah will face unprecedented resistance from the Establishment. This resistance will first appear during the Republican primary/caucus process. I would like to believe that it won't be as harsh and ugly as the General Election will be, but I can't say with a lot of certainty that is won't be. Remember, the Establishment is the Establishment, first and foremost (and certainly before Party affiliation). A Palin campaign will over-turn a lot of apple carts along the way, there are legions of the Establishment that will be filled with fear of what her Presidency would represent to their interests (to keep it short, think destruction). It will be a very tough and grueling road to the R nomination. (The first question is will the two reasons that I cited above be enough to overcome this unprecedented resistance? We all know what happens when two extremely powerful forces collide.) How badly battered and “damaged” will her candidacy be if she emerges with the R nomination?

If she can ultimately obtain the R nomination, the stakes will be raised exponentially for the General Election. Of course those of us that will come together to provide the level of support needed for her nomination will be energized and even more enthused (no matter how badly we are bruised and drained in the process). But, the forces of the Establishment will engage in an unprecedented battle to destroy her candidacy. None of us have seen anything like it yet. We will see pure evil unleashed during this campaign. It will make past dirty political machines look like pikers in comparison.

So what does it come down to? In my opinion we will be involved in the battle of our lifetimes. It will be the starkest battle between Good and Evil that we will have ever witnessed. So, we need to be prepared to partake, fully informed of what is at stake, and fully committed to fight for our collectives lives as a Nation. (Ephesians 6:12 provides a nice concise summary.) And no, I can not say for sure how this battle will end.

Whew. Glad he cleared that up. Of course, now the Cancer Lovers of America won’t be voting for him.

My daughter's Dr. at the time wanted her to get the Gardsile at age 12 and told me she will be having sex soon. I fired the bitch. Anyway my daughter is now 16 and never had the shot. If she wants it she can get it at 18 but from what Rush just said it would be useless because she should have had it at 8? I'm confused.

Bachmann may have a little problem:

HPV Vaccine: State Legislation and Statutes

Minnesota

S.F. 243 Would require the HPV vaccine for girls entering school at the age of 12. Provides parents with information and allows exemptions. (Companion: H.B. 530) Referred to Health, Housing and Family Security (1/25/07)

2007 MN Laws, Chapter 147 (H.F. 1078) Reconvenes the cervical cancer elimination study with assistance from the Minnesota advisory committee on immunization practices. The study will be on the risks, benefits, availability, efficacy and coverage of the HPV vaccine. (Part of a health and human services finance bill). Signed into Law

I think there’s a lot of confusion on this issue.

I’d also recommend to Rush that he sit down with Sarah Palin so she can adequately explain Crony Capitalism to him. I’m a bit disappointed in him today, he seems to be quite uninformed on much of this Bachmann/Palin/Perry Gardisil topic.
