NYT Keeps Readers In The Dark (that Scott Walker is Winning)
The American Interest ^ | 5/25/2012 | Walter Russell Mead

Via Meadia has been watching the New York Times‘ coverage of the Wisconsin recall race with some bemusement.

[....]

Let us stipulate that in the view of the Times, Scott Walker is a skunk and a cad. And let us stipulate that everything bad in Wisconsin, all the ill feeling and all the turmoil is entirely because this sinister enemy of all that is noble and good has been riding roughshod over every decent principle in public life.

But what Times readers will not learn from this piece is that the skunk is winning. Walker is overwhelmingly favored to win on June 5, with polls consistently giving him a significant lead over his opponent. In seven pages of focused, detailed coverage of the politics of the Wisconsin race, the piece has no room for this simple yet somehow telling detail.

A compelling portrait of the liberal bubble and echo-chamber.

Entertaining and informative.

By extension, it says a lot about liberal coverage of 0bama.

The Slimes should really adopt a new motto: All the news that fits our preconceptions.

Even RATS know that the Times lies all the time. They just like it that way.

It’s quite entertaining to visit liberal blogs sites and read the brain dead liberal comments about Scott Walker....

You would think the guy runs a concentration camp.... The way they talk about him...

The left has become utterly pathological.

Just what can they tell the truth about anymore?

The 0bama regime?

The economy?

Illegal immigration?

The “Arab Spring” and Islam in general?

So they've escaped into their fantasy world where they heroically defend all that is “good” - as defined according to their own peculiar reckoning - against those evil conservatives who dare to persist in dwelling on facts and realities.

the Times puts unpalatable facts in blogs where the more sensitive readers seldom look

cf. any mention of the comments by former EPA hack Al "crucify 'em!" Armendariz

That’s kind of the fantastic unintended consequence of demanding and getting your own state-run media: your base can’t fight because they’re unaware that there IS a fight.

Silver lining, I guess.... although it cuts both ways. I was reading the other day about how local NOLA newspeople were shocked at how many residents were planning not evac but hurricane parties right before Katrina hit.
