Rove, Romney and the GOP-e set out to destroy the tea party, and they are succeeding

Rove, Romney and the GOP-e loathe pro-life Reagan conservatism, loathe the small government tea party and set out to destroy them both. I hate to admit it, but they are succeeding.

As I see staunch pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots folding their small government tents in favor of Romney's GOP-e progressive, big government big tent, I can't help but see not only the end of the tea party, but the end of pro-life, pro-liberty conservatism within the Republican party. And if we cannot quickly recover, the end of liberty in America. America's great experiment in self-government by believers in life and liberty destroyed, not by the liberal progressive statists of the Democrat party, but by the liberal progressive statists of the Republican party. Where the statist Democrats have failed, the statist GOP-e will have succeeded.

There is absolutely no doubt that Romney's pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-socialist healthcare, statist big government record is identical to Obama's. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, conservatives automatically shunned big government statists. The GOP-e and the malignant genius, Karl Rove, figured out how to outflank us and turn the GOP totally against Reagan conservatism and against pro-Life, pro-family, pro-small government conservatives. It's an engineered coup d'etat against traditional small government conservatism and it is deadly.

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.

The fear of Obama has turned many among us into squishes who will set the pro-life conservative movement back forty years or more by surrendering to the abortionist/homosexualist, statist progressive, big government, corrupt crony capitalist agenda within the GOP.

We should not fear Obama to the point we elect an overstepping statist just like him, we should be determined to impeach his usurping treasonous ass! We should shun the Gop-e, shun Karl Rove, shun Romney, shun all of the big government, big tent, RINOS who have taken over the GOP. Rather than surrendering to the big government forces, we should be working full-time to elect pro-life, pro-small government conservatives into the majority of elective offices throughout this great land. If ever there was a time for pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots to stand their ground, it is NOW!! SURRENDER TO STATISM? NUTS!!

With conservative majorities in the legislative branches of the federal government and in the majority of all state and local governments, we can impeach and remove or expel the traitors amongst us from their executive posts, their high benches or their legislative seats and reclaim our Liberty!!

I am shocked by the number of supposedly pro-life conservatives who would promote these abortionist/homosexualist statists and dismayed that so many tea party patriots would fold their tents. Romney is the natural biological father of the big government unconstitutional statist RomneyCare/ObamaCare program that was the spark that ignited the tea party. And now the tea party sadly seems to be on the brink of surrendering to him before the fight has even begun.

Not me. I stand firm for Life and Liberty!! No Obama!! No Romney!! NOT ON MY WATCH!!

Nice speech but I’ve always heard “If “ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas”. No one is going to do anything. Conservatives are all talk and no action, all hat and no cattle.

There are no more men like those who founded this country. Those types are dead and gone, never to be revived. Sad but true. So while our choice of a Presidential candidate is not the most optimum, it is a better choice than the occupier we currently have in the White House.

I agree with you. The Tea Party/Small government types seem to be gaining all the time. Heck...even a Romney looks like a Patrick Henry against a Richard Nixon or Gerald Ford or a GWHB.

No need to panic and give up the whole playing field because you think the coach sent in the wrong quarterback.

Sometimes we just can't take yes for an answer.

At one time i said that i wouldn’t support Romney, especially after what happened in the Florida primary with the negative avalanche against Gingrich and the way Romney went after him in the Florida debate.

But i’ve changed my mind. Not that i’m suddenly swooning for Romney but to me it’s not really about Romney or Obama: it’s about the media. The media which put Obama over the top; that have put many lefties over the top who wouldn’t otherwise have gotten anywhere; that have shifted the country further and further to the left over the last 30 or 40 years by promoting every half-baked liberal cause and ridiculing or ignoring everything conservative.

It is little short of a coup d’etat. They set the agenda, they control the chessboard, they cover what they want to cover, cover up what they don’t want to cover. And they don’t even seem to care if it’ll them in the pocketbook. They want to completely defeat conservatives at almost any cost.

We all know this. But i fear if they aren’t checked now there will be no stopping them.

So to me, a resounding defeat of Obama will be a devastating defeat for the media. It will make them see that their unrelenting propaganda won’t continue to work and that they either need to become more balanced or else they’ll become more and more irrelevant. I’m not saying they’ll change overnight, it will take a while, but it is a necessary first step in my opinion.

As for Romney vs Obama, there is one big difference. Obama doesn’t care if the country is weakened in order to achieve his goals. In fact, that seems to be precisely what he thinks must be done. My sense is that Romney does care and will restore some sanity to the White House. Plus, he will be someone who other leaders will respect far more than they do Obama. That is not necessarily saying much, but it is something.

For those reasons i am hoping Romney will win. I’m not expecting much from a Romney presidency, but hopefully i will be pleasantly surprised in some areas. Especially when it comes to appointing a Supreme Court judge and helping get the economy back on track.

Having said that, you are 100% correct.

We must support Romney lest the Kenyan get re-elected.

4 years of Statist Obama vs 8 Years of Statist Mittens. Hmmmmmmm, seems the lesser of two evils thing isn’t as clear cut as you would like. Mittens doesn’t even have a legitimate plan to deal with the deficit, and has even promised more spending in the form of defense increases... but with no real cuts in anything else that is raising our 15 trillion dollar deficit higher by millions every day.

C’mon, we’re headed towards a reset. No doubt about it. And I honestly see no benefit in having Mittens running the show when the collapse happens. It will ruin our credibility as a movement since we voted for and supported the Statist under whom it collapsed.

There seems to be an awful lot of people on here who are just as delusional as the moonbats that still show up at the Madison Capitol despite having had their asses handed to the twice now. If the TEA party is dead, how do you explain Wisconsin? Romney wasn’t forced on anyone, for whatever reason the majority of GOP voters selected Romney. There may have been some Democrat crossover votes but in Wisconsin, the Dems were urging people to support Santorum. Romney was not my first choice but I’m not going to waste my vote and let 0bama finish the job of destryoing this country in a second term, just because I’m throwing a temper tantrum that my guy didn’t win.

As I read you, you are no more enamored of Romney than I am. But you also realize that the choices we are given are what they are. To insist on a further choice is to choose the way of revolution, and not that of an ordered, lawful, representative republic ... and we are not there yet.

So, to me, it is a simple choice: Obama versus Romney, that is, horrible and destructive to our constitutional republic, versus better than horrible but not nearly enough of what we truly need. I will vote for better every time, even as I would vote for a sinking ship to be kept afloat for one more hour in the hope that help would come or more survivors would be rescued. In the case of the Titanic, for example, one more hour (or a little more) would have seen the RMS Carpathia arrive on scene and thus able to rescue many hundreds more of Titanic’s passengers and crew.

Ladies and gentlemen, I respect your judgment and conscience, one and all. But we are now in a general election, as our constitution allows and enables, primary election thinking is no longer valid or helpful. Obama needs to go, and something better, however incrementally small that “better” is, needs to replace him.

I think that a lot of people felt that way about McCain and look what we ended up with. If Obama gets reelected, I think Congress and the Judicial branch will become irrelevant and free speech including websites like Free Republic will disappear.

That is not how I vote. I have always voted for someone.
Sleep well, my vote doesn’t count anyway, I live in California.
Oh, since the “health care law” medicare implantation started last year, I was forced off my husbands health plan at 65 to go on medicare. (Nope I can not get a private policy) and medicare is already rationals drugs and services.
You know the healthcare bill that was formed first by Romney and his team, and his advisers says he will not repeal.
Do what you need to do.

I agree with you. Why waste your vote as JIM describes and get no where.

As to these people who want to say”mittens” grow up and wake up. It is a two party system and one party has a horrible candidate, I.E. OBAMA.If you do not vote, you are effectively voting for Obama. Great idea Jim????? You get to lose double time.

Rush and the other talkers let Rove, the Bushes, and the rest of the Republican establishment make Romney the nominee. Had they come out strongly for Bachman early on, we would have a conservative nominee.

Now all we have is another big government establishment hack who might move us to the left and tyranny a little slower than Obama will. Once again the talkers are saying that this is the most important election of our lifetimes, just like they have every 4 years since Reagan (the last time we had a conservative nominee).

No matter if Romney or Obama wins we are going the way of Greece. The only two questions now are; how fast we go and will we lift the cup of hemlock to our own lips?
