Longbow1969:

Congratulations for writing a post that is filled with common sense.

As I read you, you are no more enamored of Romney than I am. But you also realize that the choices we are given are what they are. To insist on a further choice is to choose the way of revolution, and not that of an ordered, lawful, representative republic ... and we are not there yet.

So, to me, it is a simple choice: Obama versus Romney, that is, horrible and destructive to our constitutional republic, versus better than horrible but not nearly enough of what we truly need. I will vote for better every time, even as I would vote for a sinking ship to be kept afloat for one more hour in the hope that help would come or more survivors would be rescued. In the case of the Titanic, for example, one more hour (or a little more) would have seen the RMS Carpathia arrive on scene and thus able to rescue many hundreds more of Titanic’s passengers and crew.

Ladies and gentlemen, I respect your judgment and conscience, one and all. But we are now in a general election, as our constitution allows and enables, primary election thinking is no longer valid or helpful. Obama needs to go, and something better, however incrementally small that “better” is, needs to replace him.
