You can bet if the brave hearts among us are too afraid to vote conservative, then not a one will pick up a musket when the time comes.

Amen, Jim.

That would be all fine and dandy if it were a race between Reagan and Romney.

It’s not. It’s Obama or Romney.

I'd say it's a race between Obama/Romney and getting more steel-spined Congressmen in leadership positions who will push back on the march toward socialism. If it wasn't for the weeping losers in the GOP Congress these last two years, Obama would have been better contained.

The Tea Party is not a three-legged conservative movement.

Bachmann understood this distinction when she's talk about what the Tea Party was at essentially every appearance.

Palin understood the distinction when Van Susteren asked how social conservative Santorum could appeal to the Tea Party and she spoke of highlighting a fiscally conservative message.

Those who wish to hijack the Tea Party movement to push social policy agendas do so at grave risk of destroying that important coalition.

Do not overreach. Accept the common ground, the common principles and move the country in the right direction. Build on that over time or lose everything.

An everything or nothing attitude is a sure path to failure.

I can’t argue with that but for whatever reason, you vote for what seems a decent person and they get to the den of iniquity (DC) and everything changes and they become part of the establishment. They no longer care about the will of the people.

That’s why we need term limits.

Accept the common ground, the common principles

It would have taken fewer words if you have just said - compromise.

Hum
You maybe right if Romney and his ilk would stop comparing him to Reagan, good grief there are people on FR who are making that comparison.
Romney is not even close to conservatism, and yet again it had been demonstrated.

Oddly enough, I’ll wager that Romney, if he is elected, will employ jihad against conservatives in the Republican Party.
Oddly enough?

Why would he not, as that has been his MO for years.

His guys got in the McCain staff and did all they could to destroy Palin.

He spent 10's millions to destroy any candidates opposing him with the most vicious ads imaginable.

And that was just on the surface.

Behind the scenes his minions did even worse.

It's Romney's money that is buying him this shot at the highest office in the land.

That along with the GOP-e working with him.

Of course the reason that he is/was the dems and the MSM's candidate of choice as they could see that he couldn't beat Obama.

Those two groups along with Rove et al have doomed the GOP's chance of winning in November.

But they would rather have Obama in than a Conservative.

They all know that the only chance of getting Obama out is to run a strong conservative.

That idea was repulsive to them, and is what got their little panites in such a buncch.

De ja voux McCain "endorsing" Obama a few weeks before the election last cycle. "Nothing to fear from Obama" "Obama would make a good president"

I wonder how Mitt will pull it off for his GOP-e masters?

If Romney gets in our only hope will be if we take the senate and retain the house.

Then we will have 2 short years to get things done.

Then the dems will take the Senate and probably the House also in 2014.

If Obama wins, there is a chance we can impeach him and get rid of all of his crooked henchmen.

Then put a Consercative in the White House.

With Romney there is no chace of the above senerio happening.

If you do not vote, you are effectively voting for Obama.

I can't count how many times I have seen that ignorang knee jerk statement.

Not voting is sending a message to the GOP-e that we won't continue to vote for their next in line, or the lessor of two evils.

If they continue to ignore the message and keep up the practice of destroying Conservatives running for office, the blood will be on their hands, not the few voters that have enough integrity to not rubber stamp the GOP's rush to the left.

I'm going to edit one of your statements a bit here, Humbug
...to me, a resounding defeat of Obama Romney will be a devastating defeat for the media the GOP.

It will make them see that their unrelenting propaganda won’t continue to work and that they either need to become more balanced or else they’ll become more and more irrelevant. I’m not saying they’ll change overnight, it will take a while, but it is a necessary first step in my opinion.

Now there is the real picture imo.

Excellent post, bears repeating!
To: Jim Robinson

Republicans can't kill the Tea Party Movement because they didn't create it. It pre-exists both the Dems and Repubs. Both the GOP-e and the Dems have made a critical error assuming the Movement is an new entity that can be crushed. They're wrong. The Movement is perpetual, fluid and flows from the God-given will to be free. It will exist long after both those parties are long-lost memories. It will outlast even these United States.

It is the same Movement that wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Magna Carta. It is the same Movement that dumped tons of tea into Boston Harbor. It's the same Movement that freed the slaves and overcame Jim Crow. It's irresistible and perpetual.

I don't fear Romney and Rove because men like them have come and gone throughout our history, and they don't have the FIRST CLUE about what motivated those marchers in 2009. They'll win an election or two, pass a tyrannical law or two, but in the end the Movement will prevail, if not at the national level then at the state level. Whether it's the United States of America (USA) or the a new Free Republics of America (FRA), freedom loving Americans will eventually achieve their natural state.

We just need to stay vigilant, true, perpetually pulling at whatever chains are on us. There is no final victory for the Movement, only progress.

SUSSA, you hit on the simple truth about Rush by mentioning his staying in Bush1’s white house.

There was a marked change in Rush at that time, and he has rowed that hoe (Or is it hoed that row??) ever since.
