God bless and keep you, dear RitaOK. It's all pretty darn simple for me. I have to have specific values to vote for which are found in our Constitution, so there's no useful purpose served trying to convince me to vote against the worst of two Constitutional usurpers.

TYVM. I'll be sure to check David Horowitz's site for information on his book.

Keep praying, non stop, for our Republic and also for a miracle in Tampa!

In fact I’m going to send Romney the money I was going to contribute to Free republic. Moderator: Close my Free Republic account.

Here's a person more enthralled and devoted to a flash-pan Gumby politician in (r) clothing who...
...beat Hillary & Obama to the draw re: healthcare socialism...
...told Katie Couric less than 1300 days ago that parents have Option A -- give up their offspring for adoption; or Option B -- give their offspring to "research"...
...is in favor of big govt...
...has a track record of appointing liberal judges...
...than he is to conservative principles, many of which are based upon a foundation of eternal worldviews.

What a nasty dig.

Going to give money he was going to give to FR to Romney.

I guess those $25 abortions were the kicker.

Is Karl Rove still in politics? Isn't he as out of the campaign game as (long-dead) Lee Atwater? He shows up on talk shows to give his views, but isn't he just as ignorable as any other talking head?

On June 24, 2008, Rove said of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, "Even if you never met him, you know this guy. He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone."

Seemed a strange comment at the time, but I can see it now. Not the country club or the beautiful date. Maybe not even the martini. But Obama is that guy with the cigarette standing against the wall making snide comments. Strange that anyone thought he'd be more than that.

Those who wish to hijack the Tea Party movement to push social policy agendas do so at grave risk of destroying that important coalition. Do not overreach. Accept the common ground, the common principles and move the country in the right direction. Build on that over time or lose everything.

Well's somebody's parallel injection for the Tea Party to consider is deemed by too many a "hijack." Merely recognizing associated concepts and links isn't treating people who introduce those concepts as out-and-out "pirates" and "hijackers."

Allow me to provide an example:

I've seen articles -- and books -- on the economic effects of abortion.

For example...when you think of the dozens of millions of abortions in the U.S. (& hundreds of millions worldwide)...
* Think of how many less diapers and associated baby products have been produced;
* How many less classrooms have been filled...less need for curricula...educators...entire schools closed down due to that loss of a critical mass...
* And those dead babies never grow up either to be consumers or contributors to the economy or their communities...

Now, SOME people might want to carve some hermetically sealed line 'tween the economy and a "social policy" like abortion. What a tremendous lack of insight and discernment that would be.

The same could be said for experimental family configurations. What tends to be "tried out" experimentally more oft than not winds up with govt picking up the welfare and food stamp and other services' tab. So cohabitation, polygamy and polyamory arrangements and multiple partners may seem "remote" to economics; but it's not.

As long as people expect govt to be THE "safety net" for families, then social policies with $ consequences attached need to be addressed...even when some of these aspects are not "front and center."

Anything is better than four more years of his crap.

I like Free Republic and donate, but Jim is wrong!! If you follow his advise you will regret it. You may be proud of yourself, but stupid.

I'm sure you just forgot to ping the Freeper(as is customary at FreeRepublic) you were talking about in your post, so I did it for you.

It’s Jim’s site and I respect that. I agree with almost all the stances that this site stands for. I know Romney has a liberal past, but he was in Massachusetts for Pete’s sake. He will legislate to the right as pres. And, more than anything in the world, I want obama out. A second - even less accountable - term from obama will destroy this nation.

More of the GOP's version of "Hope and Change".

Hoping that the lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Mitt Romney, has magically changed and will not either be a conservative or govern as a conservative.

This is sad.

"Obama is the worst incumbent president in history, surpassing even Jimmy Carter in that regard. And Romney is by far the worst prospective Republican nominee ever. Two losers who both deserve to lose. The American people deserve, and need, much better."

How many third-party candidates have ever been elected President basically campaigning by mooning the other two candidates on FreeRepublic?

You could be right, but it’s a huge gamble and the price the country would pay for such a defeat would be enormous. How much further left would the Supreme Court turn in another four years? How much more entrenched will socialism become? How much dangerous will the world grow and how much more vulnerable the US?

I would rather punch back at the Democrats and the media now, for who knows when (or if) we’ll get another chance. Especially if we let them continue to grow more powerful while letting ourselves become more fragmented. A Romney win may not advance conservatism but it may save the country from total disaster.

The alternative is too much of a gamble as i see it.

Yes, I’m not particularly happy about unkus’s leaving us, but I did notice that he has not been happy here for a while now, and that this is the second time that he asked to have his account closed.

I’m also so sorry that onyx has lost a dear friend of hers with his leaving.

I’m definitely not celebrating.
