That sounds good, but one of them will be elected, no matter what you do.
I’m voting for Romney.
It does appear surreal at times. Seemingly every issue (from small, Constitutional-based goverment to supporting traditional American values) that caused me to passionately gravitate and allign myself with the Republican Party back during the Reagan era has, in the past few years, been systematically squeezed out of the GOP, which has now morphed into some kind of amoral, big-tent, power-mad, ersatz Democrat Party.
Good grief, Karl Rove was actually out and about a few weeks ago promoting government subsidies for wind farms! Add to that “Republicans” on record who support hairbrained things from cap-and-trade to homo marriage, and a nominee who inflicted Romneycare on his state. The GOP has really turned rancid. I’m open to a third-party for the first time in my voting life. Never would have predicted this a few years ago.
So you prefer Obama?
“Well, one of them WILL be president for the next four years, the only question is which one.”
What if the Tea Party descends on the convention in great numbers, and—despite their respect for the police—simply refuses to be kept out?
What if the Tea Party barges in and simply insists on someone other than Romney, even if that means forcibly ejecting most of the official delegates?
What if the Tea Party actually sacks up and does something effective? What if conservatives insist upon being taken seriously by the only means there are—putting their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor on the line?
Are you ready to get your head busted, get thrown in jail, perhaps even give your life to change the course of history at this moment? You know, sort of like the men who conducted the original Boston Tea Party.
In my view, nothing less will do.
Outstanding comment!
TEA Party
I won’t vote for him, either. I don’t vote for socialists.
Then so be it. I’ll support conservatism. However, if enough conservatives were determined to do the same, the result might be different.
That will be what YOU do.
I sure wish Romney would fight Obama as hard as he fought conservatism in the primaries. Just sayin'.
There are really only three ways to go.
1. Obama as president will be better for the country than Romney.
2. Romney as president will be better for the country than Obama.
3. Both will be rxactly the same on every issue, absolutely no difference, so I don’t care.
IMHO if you beleive #1 or #3 you are delusional, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
IMO two of these choices help Obama to varying degrees.
I will not help the sonufabitch.
“The TEA Party was never intended to be about abortion, homosexuality, etc. It’s strength was that people who think we are Taxed Enough Already could unite around the issues of taxes, debt, and spending, regardless of where they stand on social issues.”
To be consistent, the conservative world view *must* encompass the the so-called social issues—those things that used to be called morality.
If we have a right to be free from excessive taxation, that right must have a source. For the Founding Fathers, that source was our Creator. If we have a Creator who endows us with unalienable rights, rights that precede and supersede government, then it is also incumbent upon us to take seriously what that Creator has told us about His nature, and about the nature of good and evil.
If we say, “Yes, I will accept the Creator’s gift of unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of property, but I will scorn Him when He tells me that adultery is bad for me,” then our world view is not consistent.
The Conservative Party in the U.K. is farcical. There’s very little “conservative” about them, aside from their name.
I read the British press quite a bit; the United Kingdom Independence Party seems to get bandied about, on the Telegraph and the Daily Mail.
As for myself (I vote permanent absentee through Washington state), I’m voting downticket. For President, I’m writing-in for Cthulhu and Nyarlathotep for VP.
Obama? Romney? Meh. Flip sides of the same coin. And please, don’t start up with the “Obama’s gonna gas all conservatives if he gets re-elected!” or “Obama’s gonna throw conservatives in concentration camps!” Please. Step away from the Alex Jones and Jeff Rense websites. I heard the same twaddle during the Clinton years, and guess what.......he didn’t. I even remember the other side singing the same siren song of crap when W was POTUS.
Obama will be out, either in 2013 (hopefully) or 2017. And yes, the USA will survive even his colossal incompetence. There are no laws that cannot be undone, no constitutional amendments that cannot be repealed.
I get the feeling that if Obama gets re-elected this fall, a lot of folks are going to be needing some serious psychiatric help shortly thereafter.
And this is a surprise to who?
Pretty much sums it up right there.
Oddly enough, I’ll wager that Romney, if he is elected, will employ jihad against conservatives in the Republican Party.
Oh, and I should hasten to add that the comments about “step away from the Alex Jones.......etc” were not directed at YOU, personally.
Just a general statement regarding some of the hysterics I’ve seen online lately about how the world is gonna end if Obama pulls off re-election.
So, please don’t read that as an attack or insult directed at you.
Are we now there?
