USGS map showing where the earthquake was located
HILO, Hawaii East Hawaii was shaken after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Big Island. The United States Geological Survey later upgraded the quake to a magnitude 5.6, before being lowered back to a 5.3.
The USGS centered the earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, 33 miles southeast of Pahala in the southern Kau district.
Emergency officials say no tsunami was generated.
The temblor was felt across Hawaii Island. The quake shook homes in Hilo for a few moments before settling down. The incident sent local users of social media chattering away, describing how and where they felt the quake.

Just had a fairly large quake. (Mountain View, HI) Don't know the magnitude but it shook my house pretty good.

Did you feel it? Civil Defense says there was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake south of Hawaii island. There is no tsunami threat.

Is the 0bama vault safe? That’s the important thing.
According to reliable reports from the island, the original copy of President Obama’s birth certificate was irretrievably damaged as a result of the tremors.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
Love the Big Island. Was in Kona during the Japanese earthquake and following tsunami Went to Hilo and had an earthquake there. Are the vulcanoes about to be more active?
I was at the Hilo Walmart when it happened. Didn’t feel that strong.
Obama’s grandma rolling over in her grave.
hey that’s right... you just reminded me...
Obama’s birth certificate was supposedly locked into a vault by the registrar’s office or something...
Since the FRAUDULENT copy they gave out at the press conference is not real, I wonder what actually is in the vault?
Will Obama “sign waivers” to release it?
Doesn’t he know you don’t need to send a team of lawyers to “sign waivers” in order to get a copy of your own birth certificate?
What kind of “waivers” did they have to sign? Can we see those waivers?
0’s vault is probably very similar to Capone’s vault. Let’s ask Jerry Rivers to get right on this.
That said, I had just changed the water filter for the refrigerator when my wife said we just had an earthquake. I felt not a thing, heard nothing. Then a few minutes later heard the rumbling of another one, a 2.7 down at Kilauea. Just life on a volcano......
It is good to live on a pile of solid lava rock, the shock just passes through with little to no shaking, unlike those areas of loose soil.
Amazing. A quake occurs in Hawaii and all we’re concerned about is zero’s BC.
So, seriously, what about Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate?
She's graveless. Zero burned and tossed her over a cliff.
Freeper thoughts usually lead to Hussein quite understandably. We’ve gotta take the country back.
I wish his favorite golf courses would sink into the ocean.
Who cares? Hawaii is Hawaii just like NYC is considered NY State by outsiders.
We guys do. Two, Hawaii, and that other one.
I must admit my first thought was if his new digs in Hawaii were safe. I cringed at taxpayers having to pay to fix it.
It is sad that a beautiful place such as Hawaii is associated with Obama who has such an ugly heart.
