Thursday on the Senate floor Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) used the words of philosopher and politician Marcus Cicero who advocated to return to a Republican government after the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar died.
Cruz addressed the speech to President Obama using the words of Cicero saying:
The words of Cicero powerfully relevant 2,077 years later. When, President Obama, do you mean to cease abusing our patience? How long is that madness of yours still to mock us? When is there to be an end to that unbridled audacity of yours swaggering about as it does now? Do not the nightly guards placed on the border, do not the watches posted throughout the city, does not the alarm of the people and the union of all good men and women, does not the precaution taken of assembling the senate in this most defensible place, do not the looks and countenances of this venerable body here present have any effect upon you?"
Do you not feel that your plans are detected? Do you not see that your conspiracy is already arrested and rendered powerless by the knowledge that everyone here possesses of it? What is there that you did last night, what the night before, where is it that you were? Who was there that you summoned to meet you, what designs was there which was adopted by you? With which you think that any one of us is unacquainted? Shame on the age and its lost principles.

All I can say is WOW he said it like it is.. any one still think Cruz is not up to it?
I have spouted the history of the Roman Emperors to whoever would listen. After Julius Ceaser established the Emperor, and Augustus consolidated it, many in the Senate longed for a return to the Republic. No one did anything (or did enough anyway), and a series of emperors ensued, each worse than the last. The people DID get bread and circuses, though.
Our present and future succinctly stated.
As a side note to this thread please consider the following.
Regarding Sen. Cruz’s statement, I question if state lawmakers hadn’t given up the voice of the state legislatures in Congress by foolishly ratifying the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, if Obama would have been impeached out of office by now.
One of the few true American statesmen with the courage to stand up for the preservation of our republic against a lawless president dedicated to destroying it.
bobo skipped past Julius and went straight to Caligula mode.
Hopefully it ends better for Cicero this time around.

Shame on those who voted for such an unqualified, godless, and low-life juvenile delinquent to our highest elected office. One who supports murdering babies, marrying sodomites, and wrecking our economy with his foolish socialist agenda.

Cicero was also one of the original Latins-and I’ll bet Obama has never read the words of any Roman...
This never ends well for dictators...Hitler went mad and committed suicide in his bunker and was cremated along with Eva. Mussolini was hung naked and upside down from a pole along with his mistress. Obama...well the jury is still out...but when you seek to wear royal purple you have to accept the consequences.
