To: Jack Black

The article concerns Cruz hiring a “communications adviser”. My point is why not hire Newt instead of Newt’s adviser? If Cruz intends to run for POTUS he could use some coaching on getting his point across without pissing off the electorate who are not rightwingnuts like us. Nobody is better than Newt at doing that.

I understand your point.

I think Newt could be an very good informal adviser for Cruz. Newt's not a campaign professional, so it would be odd for him to be hired formally in that role. You have to hire professionals, and campaign professionals are careful to remain grey and anonymous for a good reason. (With a few exceptions, like Carville, but you see no one hires him now because they would have to spend too much time defending his statements, past and present)

A formal relationship with Newt would lead to all sorts of negative things for Cruz, and not do anything positive -- assuming he can get his help discretely.
