TRENTON — New Jersey schools would be required to teach students how they should interact with police officers under proposed legislation a sponsor says could protect both kids and cops.

The bill, (A4130), introduced last week, would require school districts to come up with instructions for students as part of their Social Studies Core Curriculum Content Standards that would include "the role and responsibilities of a law enforcement official in providing for public safety" and "an individual's responsibilities to comply with a directive from a law enforcement official."

“Kids have to learn how to behave when they’re being investigated or talked to, because they could put themselves in jeopardy,” Caputo said. “It’s also a good effort to protect the police. Kids have to recognize their authority when they’re being questioned and how to conduct themselves.”

How tough is it to teach the kids to “Get up against the wall and spread them?”

Rule Number One...

Watch all the Cop reality shows on TV.

Conclusion...

The only people who go to jail are the people who TALK to the Police.

When the Cops show up, ask for a lawyer, then say nothing.

Your chance of a conviction just went down 80%.

Silly me. I always thought that juries, not police, convicted defendants and that in arriving at their decisions juries decided whether the weight of the evidence including statements to the police were credible or not.

and "an individual's responsibilities to comply with a directive from a law enforcement official."

So the state instructing kids how to better submit to the state. Why not just send them off to communist indoctrination camps and be done with it.

Shouldn’t the parent/parents teach the kids this?
Well shouldn’t the parent/parents be feeding the kids and they aren’t, so the schools have to feed them.

Kids need to know the most effective way to grab the cop’s gun and to blow him away with only one shot, so you have lots of bullets left for other purposes. /s

In this day and age, with the schools being little more than FedGov satellite offices, children ARE being sent off to communist indoctrination camps.

They are taught what FedGov wants them to learn; fed what FedGov wants them to eat; told what FedGov wants them to believe.

Pretty simple to extinguish freedom.

NJ is past assuming kids even have parents; the government here is under a lot of pressure from “parents” to take their children for as much of the day (and as much of the year) as possible.

When you realize how many children are bred for freebies or to prevent deportation, you see who they are targeting with this. A couple of years back a little girl was killed here (about five years old), and they could only find one picture that had been taken of her during her lifetime. “Parents” is not a good word for those who brought her into this world; many of our social ills are caused by these “children” reaching puberty with no upbringing at all.

I was taught at a young age to respect people in authority and to use “sir” and “ma’am”. I learned from experience that it does no good to argue with a cop.

Why would my comment be at odds with what you thought?

No statements to the Police means less evidence.

If you are guilty, less evidence is good.

If you are not guilty, you can testify on your own behalf, after the prosecution has revealed its entire case.

No statements also mean no contradictions, no retractions, no exaggerations, and no provable lies.

And, in your case, no bizarre comments.

“How tough is it to teach the kids to “Get up against the wall and spread them?””

Actually quite tough, because all they ever see on TV are people mouthing off to pigs. A guy I was with did just that. We were pulled over for non-speeding after skiing (we were coming down a road from where most young people speed and drink...we did neither and didn’t get a ticket either). He got tired of the pig asking questions, jumped out of the car and started yelling at him. Scared the crap out of the pig, who, to his credit, managed not to draw his gun (we’re white, after all).

It’s not always obvious what to do in the face of cops - if you no one tells you what is going through the mind of the cops.

I’ve seen the same shows and my advice would be different:

1. Don’t LIE to the cops.
2. Don’t RUN from the cops.
3. Don’t SWING on the cops.

Oh yeah, don’t wear sleeveless T shirts and live in a single-wide.

Duh! I had “the talk” with our son when he was about 14. I told him if he did something stupid or did nor respect police he would probably land in jail and that it might be a lesson he needed.

Ideally a criminal trial is to seek the truth and more evidence should increase the likelihood of arriving at the truth. Of course, quilty persons would do their best to conceal the truth. Do we teach our children be truthful or to impede the course of justice?

I remember a quote once from a lawyer who said they could take anyone, ask him ten questions and find something to charge him with. We live in a police state. Neitzche said "He who fights dragons long enough becomes a dragon". We spent so much time fighting Communist police states like China and the USSR that we have become a police state.

I know a guy who got cut off by a state cop on the freeway, when he evaded the crash, the cop pulled him over for illegal lane change.

While the cop was writing the ticket, my friend was on the phone with the cop’s Captain. He handed the cop the phone. Oh, should I say ex-cop.

Not something I would do. I recently had an officer in the same department cut me off on the freeway due to his pathetic driving skills. I hit the horn and yelled at him through the window. When I reached my destination, I too had a conversation with his duty sergeant and suggested a remedial driving course that included the use of mirrors and turn signals.
