“With the opposition vote split, Hillary Clinton wins in a landslide.”

First of all I would rather have Trump than Bush...

Second, rather than split the vote why don’t you just vote for Trump over Bush?

Trump has got to be better than Clinton or Bush...

Cruse would probably make a better president, but it’s doubtful that he can overtake Bush, and he also is going to have a problem with low information voters (the ones who are going to elect the next president, BTW).

"I love that every article always starts out with the premise that Trump can’t win."

And half the posters on this site start out with "I don't like Donald Trump, but..." Or, "I'd never vote for Donald Trump, but..."

This phenomenon is happening VERY quickly. Soon we'll be hearing some old Freepers talking about Trump as if he were Ted Cruz lol

Oh I’m sure the Washington Post is doing their best to help GOP win the White House.

After all we know the Washington Post LOVES REPUBLICANS, and are doing their best to help them out....(sarcasm off)

This headline from Communist Post tells me they are VERY FEARFUL of Trump.

Anyone else that believes the Washington Post is a gullible dumb@ss.

but what choice is there if we can’t get the GOP to join our cause?

I know.....but you have to admit that a third party would only take us out of power for decades or longer assuming the Demorats refuse to allow their party to fragmnent as the GOP is currently. I think it's likely that they would hold it together, unless the GOP was able to win successive elections and keep the WH for 3 or more terms..and this won't happen with a viable third party.

The old dogs in the GOP have always ignored conservatives, knowing that they have no other place to go. Reagan had to fight through that and it was not easy, so what we see today is really nothing new.

It's all about the money....It always has been and we just can't shake loose of this crony capitalism so it goes on and on...

Corporations are scared to death, and have linked arms with government as a necessary evil. They are pouring money into groups that represent their interests with the GOP and the GOP is taking their needs and desires as a priority to tap those resources.

That's why we are ignored and shoved to the sidelines. And this is what has to be changed.

We have never used anti-corporate tactics politically. We need to reconsider this in light of fast track and immigration. We need to put a different saddle on the Elephant in these two issues, trade and immigration, because if we don't name and shame them, this stuff will continue to grow stronger.

I don't think he will go 3rd party either, but even if he does, he is as likely to take Democrat votes as Republican votes.

If some far left fanatic at the Washington Compost, who has been anti-Republican all his life, thinks Trump is very bad for the Republican Party, then you can bet your bottom dollar Trump is very good for the Republican Party.

Trump isn’t a good idea.

Trump’s holdings have been bankrupt four times.

The last thing we need is another guy who can’t understand the importance of discretion in spending.

If the Dems remained unified, then you could have a point. I’m not convinced they would.

Traditionally we have feared the third party thinking it would split the Conservative vote and usher in the Democrats over and over.

I don’t think that has to hold true.

I agree with most of your comments.

I’m not sure exactly how scared corporations are. I think it’s more then exploiting for political gain, but there could be more of a component along the lines of what you mention in there.

Oh Yeah, opposition researchers for every PAC and every candidate are already pulling out all the stops.

The "racist" label is just cover fire.

You can expect, by next week, the REAL hit pieces...I expect complicated charges associated with obscure business deals...and a counter story that cannot be easily told.

One per day for a couple of weeks.

EVERYONE is out to get this guy and I'm sure he's got some hidden dirt somewhere.

heck, I’m thrilled that Trump is pushing back...

But that is why this writer is all freaked out....They are not accustomed to it...at least not since the 1950s..

Well...I’m sure he has plenty of dirty laundry, which is why I don’t think he’s as serious about this as some think..

But what I refer to is his politics. He’s not conservative and he’s not really even a republican..

Technically I would say he is a independent switch hitter (votes or supports both parties) with old fashioned deep love for America as founded, but he knows very little about politics and in fact disdains it.

He’s going to give us much entertainment for a while..

Well, I follow the markets closely and have for about 16 years...

Public corporations are having to pay huge fines to the SEC for what I term to be regulatory shakedowns, used to fund the government as you would use a tax. Obama is going where the money is to extract everything the government can get. He’s killed the big banks and has been moving to multinational corporations and financial services.

Yeah....they are concerned, and many of the multinationals are being forced out of China due to their regulatory shakedowns, so they need the US to make ends meet and the US economy is still lying in the ditch due to Obama policies.

I think they are individually and as groups, trying to schmooze the GOP in this cycle where previously they split their donations to both parties. Wall street, who usually support democrats has also come back into the GOP fold to try and mitigate the damages Obama has caused to them and they don’t want it happening again.

If it were not for continuous easy money from the FED, wall street would still be a smoking hole in the ground and banks would still be failing.

Unfortunately, the FED’s balance sheet is loaded, and they cannot save our financial system for much longer without endangering the entire system.

It’s possible, and I have said this publically, that it may already be too late to stop a catastrophic cascade failure of the entire system.

So yes.....they are afraid...

Usually what brings the world away from the brink of disaster is another type of disaster and that is a wide spread war.

Corporations are also in fear of that as well, and Obama is scaring the pants off them with his foreign policy ineptitude.

Knowing all this, what would you do...?

You cannot let anyone know that you are backing the republicans exclusively, so you make it appear that everything is the same as it was.

But privately and through K street lobbyists, they are promising the funds the GOP needs for this election and elections to come.

The GOP is now in the corporate boardroom in a much bigger way as the DNC is finding the door harder to get through. But again, you can’t let anyone know this...

So nobody really sees it happening...except for a few..

This is why the GOP is ignoring us and will continue to do so.

While I understand your comments and don’t necessarily disagree with you, those corporate folks don’t vote in sufficient numbers to carry the day.

The RP hasn’t had a good solid victory since 1988. At some point it’s going to have to pull it’s head out and smell something different.

More and more people are fed up with the R.P.

It’s just a fact. There’s what I’d term a 75% chance I won’t vote for the R.P. choice in 2016.

I’ve seen what a RINO can do to us, and I’m just not in the mood to help them screw us like they did from 2001 to 2009.

If they want my vote, it’s more than clear what they have to do.

If the nation’s going down, I don’t have to have been an enabler. I’m done with politics as normal.

the simple fact that he makes the party look silly (which he certainly does)

Perhaps if the GOP could field a solid candidate; a statesman who stands on the principals of his (or her) convictions, a true conservative who laughs at the polls, and not a politician, there wouldn't be room for 18 idiots. And at the end of another primary circus, we get an as-yet-to-be-identified Bozo.

I thought I made it clear that it's their money the GOP wants, and the recent business in the Senate with fast track, Obama's illegal immigration funding, and other issues we fought them over, all had to do with that corporate money.

The GOP has traded their souls and their ethics for donations..

Yes, I concur on the Rino's...I said up thread somewhere that if Bush (for example) is the nominee, I will likely NOT go to the polls on election day because I would rather the country go over the cliff sooner, rather than slower with a rino.

I say that because we really have already fallen off that cliff.

We just have not yet hit the bottom. (falling does not hurt)
