We've seen this movie before. It's a Perot reboot

Perot ran as an Independent.

Trump is running as a Republican.

But you probably already knew that.

[ We’ve seen this movie before. It’s a Perot reboot ]

If that G_D D-MNED idiot Perot would have stayed in the election in 1992, even if he didn’t win and even if he still handed the election to Clinton, it would have built the legitimacy of an actual third party alternative to the two party power structure...

But the idiot got out of the F—ing race when he was EASILY taking over 25% of TOTAL votes then got back in a few eeks later essentially KILLING any 3rd party viability for the next 20-30 years....

What made him drop out then get back in (back in as a damned joke) in 1992....?

He should have toughed it out...

Perhaps. But Perot was politically tone-deaf and had no clue how to play the media. Trump, by contrast, is a master of that game. (One can only imagine how entertaining presidential press conferences would be with him).

Trump already has unmatched mindshare with the low-information voter, doesn't need to pander to them, and knows it. For anyone else, his brashness and refusal to mouth PC pieties or backpedal in the face of the expected faux outrage from the media makes him an obvious standout in a mostly undistinguished field. The fact that he's already rich also makes it a lot more likely that he's not going to be bought by the usual suspects once in office.

Can he win? He's certainly a wild card, but after Obama anything's possible.

“It’s a Perot reboot”

Bingo! An eccentric billionaire showing a bit of populism and people wetting their panties.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!

1) Trump plays well to the PISSED OFF AMERICAN vote, just like Ross Perot did.

2) He sucks off enough support from serious potential reformers like Cruz, Paul, and Rubio that Jeb Bush wins the nomination.

3) Trump doesn't go quietly, and then switches to run as an independant.

4) Angry Republicans vote for Trump. Establishment republicans vote for Bush.

5) With the opposition vote split, Hillary Clinton wins in a landslide.

Trump has donated to the Clintons for years. He's one of their biggest supporters. You can see this train wreck coming for miles.

Wish we would have listened to Ross Perot, probably would have saved millions of good paying American jobs.
