Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump leads rival Marco Rubio in the senator's home state of Florida by 20 points, according to a News 13/Bay News 9 poll released Tuesday.
Trump takes 42 percent of the vote, with Rubio receiving 22 percent, according to the statewide poll. Texas senator Ted Cruz receives 17 percent support.
The results stand in contrast to a Monmouth University poll released Monday that showed Rubio cutting Trump's lead in Florida to single digits. Trump took 38 percent of the vote in that poll, with Rubio receiving 30 percent support. Rubio also led the front-runner among voters who have already cast their ballots, while Trump led among those who have not yet voted.
The News 13/Bay News 9 poll, however, is in line with several surveys taken last month that show Trump with a double-digit lead over Rubio in Florida, which has 99 delegates at stake in its primary on March 15.
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in the state, Trump has a 16-point lead over Rubio, 42.3 to 26.3 percent. Cruz has 14 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich takes 8.8 percent of the vote.
Last Saturday, Rubio declined to say whether he'd drop out of the presidential race if he loses the Florida primary.
The News 13/Bay News 9 poll of 937 likely and actual GOP presidential primary voters, conducted from March 4 to 6, has a margin of error of 3.3 percent.
If Rubio ends up coming in 3rd in Florida, which looks possible. Then he needs to drop out.
Time for plan b er... C....D.....uhm..... G
It will be nice to see Rubio’s political career end in ashes soon.
His Gang of Eight treason made him a non-starter. Glad he ran, however. He helped stop fellow traitor Jeb from gaining any traction.
Was anybody really worried about Rubio?
Looks like “buh bye” for Mario. If he can’t take his home state, it’s time to bail...
I’d be surprised if Trump does this well, but who knows?
“This Florida Decides Exclusive Statewide Poll was conducted by SurveyUSA from March 4-6. Pollsters surveyed 2,450 likely voters via home phones and smart devices. Respondents reachable on a home phone were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents who were not reachable by home phone were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, tablet or other device.”
Let me just say it straight as my POV, it represents no one elses. But perhaps it does. I am a Trump supporter. I do not believe in worshipping ANY politician or business mogul in office, or in ANY office holder. Every one of them will let you down in one way or another. But I am also in the middle of both arguments that (1) they will all let you down, dont believe in ad hominems too broad and especially if they are couched in religious aura (2) but, you can enthusiastically support someone who will get you the most important things you care about in specific but critical agendas that impact your immediate world and for the next 10 years
I was won over by Trump right away because of his brave stance on illegal and criminal aliens.
That was my path to Donald Trump and I will stick with Trump to the very end, because he bravely brought this issue (for me, it is a crisis) front and center. And he took a lot of flak for it and didnt back down.
My other two critical concerns are the economy and terrorism. There is no order to these 3, they are all important to me, and frankly I suspect the economy will be the number one issue in the general election but the other two will be right there as well, and ALL THREE HAVE a symbiotic relation to each other, illegal (or for that matter refugees or legal) immigration negatively impacts the economy, so does terrorism, open borders invites terrorism, terrorism can hurt the economy, around and around it goes.
I am for Trump. I am enthusiastically for Trump. I am now giving money to Trump. I see the Reagan coalition in Trump. I want to destroy Hillary and the Clinton cartel. I hate the Republican establishment. And yes, I know, Trump once in power will let me down on some things.
But I do not think he will let me down on the question of illegal and criminal alien. And I believe we are doing something wrong in the war on terrorism at this juncture, we must face this and I believe Trump will give us a strong stance and do it in a new way. And important to most Americans, and to me, I believe Trump will bring about a true recovery for the economy and jobs.
Maybe he will do some things I wont like. But these three are my primary issues. Period. I worship no leader. Not even Reagan, whom my family supported in the day. But thank you Ronald Reagan. And I have no doubt I will be saying thank you Donald Trump in the future.
I think these three issues are the ones in this election. Important to me, for sure. But there is one thing that I may differ from others on this forum. When I was young I was very religious. But I also saw some issues when some try to run a religious campaign under the auspicious of a political campaign. Let me just say, I have reservations now that I am 60 years old for that. And I will wager, a lot of Americans are like me. In fact, I think the majority are like me. I am not going to go into my reasons, but just say again, when I was young I was very religious. Today, as a result, I do not want to see someone who wants what may amount to be a Theocracy even on the level of Theocracy lite. Sorry. Let me just say, I have seen the issue of cults. A vision can become clouded.
Trump is not running a religious campaign. That is another reason why I support him. That may turn off some here. Well, let us see who wins the nomination. I worship no man. No man. There will be fault found. And by the way, there will always be the poor.
Once I was religious, still am actually at many levels. Once I was this or that. But today, things have happened that require immediate attention IMHO. So today, I am an American Nationalist. That may not be a pure conservative. But I want to GIVE GREATNESS A CHANCE. And even though it is an ad hominem I do not think is the best to bank all your hopes in, yes, I want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. I believe these 3 issues are key to that. And I believe Donald Trump will deliver what I want. Not everything. But for that. I am no longer a patient guy. I am an angry guy. I want a General Patton. The Republican Party is fighting to continue doing business as usual. I dont want that. We are on a war footing. I want a bad ass bad mouth General Patton. I want a strong horse. That is what I want. I swear today, that I, will vote for Donald Trump in California. My allegiance is to Donald Trump. He is not God. He is in fact, exactly the un-nice but nice guy I want in these times. Not all Trump supporters are the same as me. But, I think American WILL elect him as the next President of the United States of America. Just give him the chance to run against Hillary. You havent seen ANYTHING yet whats coming for her.
1. North Korea, just yesterday. threating to attack us with nukes
2.The Iranian's with their newly acquired 150 billion dollars -can simply buy nukes now!
3. Mullah Obama has already begun flying in his preset goal of 170,000 Islamic Muslim rapefugees! How many of these 170,000 will eventually beat, rape and murder our fellow Americans. How many of these 170,000 will arrive here - and eventually pull out machine guns on us.
4. The illegal mexican horde currently here and the illegal mexican hordes always enroute here -taking millions upon millions of jobs from Americans (white, black and hispanic Americans), swarming our schools, bankrupting our hospitals, raping and murdering fellow Americans. [and all the very slimy democrat politicians welcoming them -as potential democrat voters]
I'm voting for Trump!
I sure don't want him as prez...
Trump could win by only one vote in Florida that he still would get all 99 Florida delegates, and Cruz and Rubio would get zero.
He may get the liberal Republicans from up north
But not enough of them yet
I wasn’t happy with Rubio’s work with the ‘gang of eight’, but I have to ask - do you actually think that Trump will be more conservative?
True.
Another interesting fact: Idaho has a qualifying threshold of 20% of the vote.
Less than that and a candidate gets zero delegates.
Only Trump is polling well above 20%, though Cruz is close at 19%.
Kasich and Rubio may get zip there tonight.
