Florida poll: Trump [42] up by 20 over Rubio [22] [Cruz 17]

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump leads rival Marco Rubio in the senator's home state of Florida by 20 points, according to a News 13/Bay News 9 poll released Tuesday.

Trump takes 42 percent of the vote, with Rubio receiving 22 percent, according to the statewide poll. Texas senator Ted Cruz receives 17 percent support.

The results stand in contrast to a Monmouth University poll released Monday that showed Rubio cutting Trump's lead in Florida to single digits. Trump took 38 percent of the vote in that poll, with Rubio receiving 30 percent support. Rubio also led the front-runner among voters who have already cast their ballots, while Trump led among those who have not yet voted.

The News 13/Bay News 9 poll, however, is in line with several surveys taken last month that show Trump with a double-digit lead over Rubio in Florida, which has 99 delegates at stake in its primary on March 15.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in the state, Trump has a 16-point lead over Rubio, 42.3 to 26.3 percent. Cruz has 14 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich takes 8.8 percent of the vote.

Last Saturday, Rubio declined to say whether he'd drop out of the presidential race if he loses the Florida primary.

The News 13/Bay News 9 poll of 937 likely and actual GOP presidential primary voters, conducted from March 4 to 6, has a margin of error of 3.3 percent.

While I have mixed feelings towards Trump I hope he stomps that little snake Rubio.

Trump is not running a religious campaign. That is another reason why I support him. That may turn off some here. Well, let us see who wins the nomination. I worship no man.

That is not my primary reason I support Trump. My primary reason is Trump is a complete and total outsider non-career politician, who has achieved more success in real life, main street, free market economy than 99.9999% of Americans. We all had the same opportunity to succeed as Trump. There was no law preventing any of us becoming a multi-Billionaire. Let's just face the truth, shall we? Trump is smarter than all of us on FR and the 16 other candidates who ran in 2016, COMBINED, in running a business in the fiercely competitive main street real world economy.

My second reason for supporting Trump is that he is unique and different from other candidates, in that he has not accepting money from big donors. He will not be servicing his rich donors, as ALL OTHERS MUST DO. If Trump wins the nomination, it will be self-financed. In general, if Hillary has Billions to spend attacking Trump, then I would advise Trump to have equal resources to fight back.

Despite Cruz's attacks on his party's donor class and establishment, the Texas senator Ted Cruz^s GOP campaign has received $37 million from just four donors.

The Wilks family of Cisco, Texas, New York hedge fund tycoon Bob Mercer, Texas energy investor Toby Neugebauer and Illinois manufacturing moguls Dick and Liz Uihlein.

And finally my third reason supporting Trump is same as yours. He does not push his religion in my face, whether it be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Mormon, Hindu or Buddhist.

Well said, ShivaFan. I’ve been telling my friends that we have the choice among a chihuahua, a grayhound, and a junkyard dog. Might get bitten with a junk yard dog....but he’ll guard the perimeter!

Reagan had the hostage crisis. Trump has a complacent electorate and a lot of incoming from every where including Rush and Fox. Now you got the GOPe in the mix.

I think he’ll pull it out in the end, but for now, it would be nice if there was some kind of global crisis, or something locally to raise our interest in the urgency of things.

It’s not an “open”primary, but up to a date a few weeks ago, Dems could change party affiliation to vote in the R primary. I believe they have an opportunity to change back before the general. I would not be surprised, here in FL, if that doesn’t happen in this case, except if Trump is the eventual nominee many of those who changed will stay for the general, and many more will change for the general. Trump is popular in FL as it is his “second home” and there are many transplants from the northeast in FL.

One thing is for sure.

If Trump gets in the white house ten she will be by far the most beautiful first lady the white house has ever seen.

Cruz is desperate for Rubio to drop out.
Then the story of another Carson drop out rears it’s ugly head concerning Cruz, lies, and CNN.

If Rubio butts out before Florida it hands the state to trump then and there. All Rubes early votes will disappear and trump will be way up on everyone even before the election day.
