While Karl Marx was a Lutheran (having been converted to that religion by his father), he came from a line of Rabbis. Karl Marx wrote a book called "On the Jewish Question" or "World Without Jews*." In that book, Marx blasts Jews as hucksters with money as their god. Marx then said it would be great if Jews were gone from the world.

In all of Marx’s voluminous writings (including private letters to family members), there is no hint of any self-awareness as a Jew.
