Ben Carson will serve on a selection committee to find Donald Trump’s running mate, Trump told the New York Times on Wednesday.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee said he plans to announce his vice presidential pick in July before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Trump will soon announce a committee to handle the selection process, he said.
“I think on the committee I’ll have Dr. Ben Carson and some other folks,” Trump said.
Carson, who ended his own presidential bid in March, is one of Trump’s most outspoken campaign surrogates, frequently appearing on news shows to defend the candidate.
While Trump hasn’t publicly discussed possible running mates, he told The New York Times in an article published Saturday that Ohio Gov. John Kasich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Gov. Rick Scott were possible contenders.

Excellent, Ben is very thoughtful.
I suspect Trump has a pretty good idea who he wants.
This committee will come up with a short list, and Trump’s guy will be on it.
There is only one choice: Sen Jeff Sessions.
I just hope it’s not the same role Cheney played.
If Trump is smart, he will select a non establishment conservative as his VP or at the very least, announce cabinet positions with a good number of conservatives.
He would make a good Surgeon General.

And I suspect that that the former candidates aren’t really on the short list, but are mentioned to help win over their supporters.
I wish he could find an acceptable, strong black woman as his VP. Not Condoliza, but some other who would be in sync and line with Trump’s announced position statements.
But anyone else who is strong, fairly well known, and strong on these positions and knowledgeable.
Looking forward to seeing who he picks.

Folks, it will not be anyone that has ran this time.

My bet is on Chris Christie ...
As Vice Presidents go, Dick Cheney was actually a pretty good choice.
Had Dubya been unable to discharge the duties of the office for whatever reason, then Cheney could assume the position. Nobody would be crazy enough to attempt to assassinate Dubya then, Cheney was his life insurance policy.
And if Cheney had died while in office, Dubya could have been able to be President in more than name only.

That was my first thought too.
Carson would be a great member to his cabinet and a great way to undo all the damage that al sharpton and jessie jackson has done to the African-American community as Ben could be an ambassador of sorts to he Black Community.
