Trump: NFL owners 'afraid' to take action against kneeling players
Fox News ^ | September 28,2017

President Trump, in an exclusive interview with "Fox & Friends," said that NFL owners are “afraid” to act against their players protesting the national anthem at games across the country.

“The NFL is in a box and they have to do something about it,” Trump told Fox News' Pete Hegseth, in the interview aired Thursday morning.

“I think they’re afraid of their players, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said.

In the same interview, Trump also touted the newly released Republican tax reform framework, describing the plan as the “largest reduction in terms of dollars in any plan in the history of the country.”

The president reiterated that the NFL has a wide range of rules, suggesting the league should apply new rules to those who would protest the anthem by kneeling.

“They have rules for everything—you can’t dance in the end zone, you can’t wear pink socks relative to breast cancer—they have rules for everything,” the president told Hegseth, a “Fox & Friends” weekend co-host and Fox News political analyst.

He added: “Why aren’t they honoring this country by enforcing a rule that’s been in existence for a long time?”

But he said, “I have so many friends that are owners, and they are in a box.”

Trump’s comments come after days of back-and-forth criticism with the NFL and its players for “disrespecting our country.”

Trump suggested that stadiums are “losing” fans amid the controversy. “The stadiums are losing—there are a lot of empty seats, I couldn’t even believe it,” Trump said.

Trump kicked up a firestorm over the kneeling protests last week, after criticizing NFL players for not standing for the anthem.

100% correct. The owners and coaches draft these guys, wine and dine them, recruit them during free agency, and the players have the upper hand in most dealings. So naturally the owners’ and coaches’ first priority is usually to pacify and bend to the players desires.

Except in this situation, they might learn that the fans should have been the number priority.

The dirty little secret about the NFL?

Let’s be honest here, on any given Sunday, there’s a whole lot of REALLY-BAD-to average football being played. If you boycott, you’re really not missing all that much, very few games are interesting.

Don’t be chained to the TV watching crap football and having hostile politics shoved down your throat, get out and enjoy that beautiful fall weather, clean the yard or take a walk or drive in the country. Don’t give more money to the unappreciative millionaires!

I've been a fan of the NFL since the 1970's. I'm on the fence right now...but if the kneeling and arm holding happens again this weekend, its over. For me its a big decision...it will be hard to quit watching...but I don't plan on just saying I won't watch unless I really mean it.

I'm sure there are tens of thousands of fans just like me. This weekend is the litmus test, starting with tonight's game.

management 101: do not let problems fester. take immediate action

management 101.1: do not abrogate your responsibilities

The owners violated both precepts. I do not believe there are any owners who hate the US, its flag or the anthem. I think putting their heads in the sand and not taking a definitive stand on this issue, a stand that was consistent with all prior actions regarding player demonstrations for individual causes, has killed their golden goose. “Goodell is afraid of the big bad negroes. Either that or he’s a cuckold.”

I wondered if the Fraud’s people contacted Allejandro Villanueva’s handlers with some dirt on him, for him to have cowarded out and betrayed the Army Rangers so fast.

Start a new football league and call it the NAFL to replace the NFL: The National Anthem Football League.

The first rule that must be kept is that the players must stand respectfully during the playing of the National Anthem. Refuse and no job for you.

No official interaction with the illegal aliens known as the NFL will be allowed. They can scrimmage someone else. Go to Zimbabwe or Tanzania or Iran for a scrimmage if they dislike the USA.

Trump suggested that stadiums are “losing” fans amid the controversy. “The stadiums are losing—there are a lot of empty seats, I couldn’t even believe it,” Trump said.

Not only are they losing fans, they are losing games.

Of the 12 games in Week 3 where a team that stood for the anthem played against a team that knelt, 11 were won by the team that stood.

Standers - 11
Kneelers - 1

That is a statistic the owners can understand.

It no longer matters if the vast majority of the NFL blacks decide to honor the flag now because they are trash now. It would be a fake gesture and I will never forget the rotten bunch of anti Americans.

Is it wrong for me to think of the league as the MF L now?

I struggle to see these protests in a more charitable light.

(Fire goodell and hire a replacement with the honor and balls to do the job.)
Goodell is only doing what the owners want him to do. He’s their agent and their representative. He wouldn’t say and do what he says and does without their blessing. Therefore the entire NFL is responsible for this mess. I couldn’t be any happier. They deserve it. And on top of their leftist tendencies they have blackmailed taxpayers into subsidizing the building of expensive stadiums that these multi-billionaires could have afford to pay on their own. This is corporate welfare at its worst.

As stated elsewhere these guys should seriously think about joining their local “FIRST WIVES CLUB”. They’d fit right in.
Wossie twits. They’ve no equipment in their sharply creased trousers. Peering into those polished loafers, you can tell.
