Relatives of Berlin Christmas Market Victims Pen Angry Letter to Merkel

Relatives of the 12 people who were killed in last year's horrific terror attack at a Christmas market in Berlin have spoken out publicly against the treatment they've gotten from German Chancellor Angela Merkel. One of their complaints is that, although it was a widely publicized and horrific attack, Merkel has not expressed personal condolences. Apparently, "Mutti Merkel" is so busy creating an even bigger and more powerful EU that she can't spare the time to reach out to terror victims' families.

The relatives wrote an open letter that was published by German news magazine Der Spiegel on Friday. In the letter, they accuse Merkel of not taking the time to offer her personal condolences or writing them a letter.

Of course, the relatives of the victims are right: it's shameful that Merkel hasn't reached out to them. Sadly, it's clear why she hasn't done so. Merkel is Europe's main proponent of unlimited migration from the Middle East and Africa. As such, she's at least partially responsible for terror attacks carried out by recently migrated Islamist extremists from those regions. She'd rather pretend such attacks don't occur -- at all -- so she can continue to propagate her immigration gospel to the German people.

In addition to blasting Merkel for not reaching out to them, the relatives also argue that the chancellor's policies a) led to the attack and b) continue to endanger Germans:

In the letter, the relatives also severely criticized the government's efforts to combat the danger posed by Islamist terrorists, saying Germany lacked "basic professionalism in its approach to terrorism."

Sorry folks, words and dead citizens won’t sway the fanatic globalists like Merkel! Only force will work!

Merkel could care less if a few innocents die in the push to establish a permanent left voter base.

There is nothing more German than a Christmas Market. They are delightful reminders of Christmas in the German tradition. Beautiful set up, beautiful decorations, wonderful food, wonderful drink, and crafts and entertainment Beyond imagining. I absolutely loved them!

They are quintessential German. And since Merkel is out to destroy all things German, German culture, and German beautiful, she continues to allow terrorists to subvert Germany. Perhaps Germany will wake up, but they have never been very good at that.

Having a degree in Germanic Languages, and having read a lot of German literature/screenplays from the 1950s-1980s, I can say that the Germans are really good at asking "How could we have let this happen?"

Your government actively covers up Muslim rape gangs. It certainly doesn’t care about the living family of people dead from Islamic terrorism.

henkster, I'm really surprised at you. You base your assumptions on what liberals & COMMUNIST agitators ( literature/screenplays) say!

Of course these Intellectuals, commies will do their obligatory hand wringing.

None of my Onkels or even my own Vater had those sentiments! AND, some paid a price with blood......I'll believe them before anyone else!

You might as well quote what a NY newspaper or Pravda publishes as truth.

Let me ask a question: Show me the newspaper headlines, " Germany and The USSR invade peaceful Poland to start WWII" or "German & Russian War Criminals on trial!"

Your father and uncles were more into the “Verlorene Ehre” theme from German culture. Yes, I read that too. It was directed toward the war veterans and families of war veterans from World War 2. The point of that theme is that soldiers fight for each other. In the Heer, it was even more pronounced than in most other armies, because of the Heer’s practice of having a “home town” for each regiment. That meant that the soldiers in a particular regiment who marched into the Soviet Union in 1941 had all grown up together. It made for a very cohesive and formidable fighting force.

For the guys in a that regiment who survived to 1943 or 1944, they had seen many or most of their childhood friends die in combat. They then became the Feldwebeln, whose units contained the younger brothers of their friends, and were responsible for their lives. And for their deaths.

After the war, when confronted with the excesses of the regime they fought for, they had to question whether all the sacrifice had been done only in the service of evil. It’s a hard burden to bear, and that struggle was also presented in German culture. It just took a little longer before it was more socially acceptable to express it.

However, I reject the notion that “how could we let this happen” was communist propaganda. It assumes that what the Nazi regime did was acceptable, or somehow excusable because the Soviets were bad, too. I reject that notion outright. Do not apologize for Nazi Germany. The Germans were confronted with the evils of the Nazi regime, and had their noses rubbed in it. “How could we have let this happen” is a totally natural and honest response.

And on a personal level, I note that at that time, your father and uncles were trying to kill two of my uncles. So don’t expect any sympathies for the Nazis from me.
