“High-harm” violent offences involving weapons are soaring in England and Wales, as a crime wave continues, with knife and gun crime, as well as homicide, shooting up.
Meanwhile, police also recorded 31 percent more rapes, up to 53,977, and 21 percent more other sexual offences, rising to 96,755.
The revelations, from the latest official figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), show offences involving knives or sharp instruments rising by 16 percent to 40,147 – the fourth consecutive increase in knife attacks revealed by the ONS

IIRC, a crime in UK especially a violent crime is not recorded as such for statistical purposes until a verdict is rendered. It guarantees that crime statistics will be artificially lower than the grim reality.
So when a violent crime wave bursts onto the tabloids, you can bet things are MUCH worse in Olde Blighty than reported.
Therefore expect more lectures about the U.S.’s lax gun laws by our British superiors.
I don’t have the energy this morning to share all of my experiences with English liberal stupidity. But their inevitable dive into the abyss is has gained enough momentum that it is hard to see any real possibility that they will somehow extricate themselves from the mess that they have put themselves in.

Yes indeed, who could forget the drive-by acid attacks. That wasn't a statistic that was widely kept in the UK, or for that matter, in the western world in general, until fairly recently. So what changed? Whatever could it be?
