A GoFundMe page to cover the legal expenses for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen was launched on Wednesday with a goal of raising $500,000.
Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer, is listed as the administrator of the page, titled the "Michael Cohen Truth Fund." The page had racked up more than $20,000 in donations as of 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
"Michael decided to put his family and his country first. Now Michael needs your financial help to pay his legal fees," the page description states.
The donations will help Cohen "as he goes forward on his journey to tell the truth about Donald Trump," the page states.
Cohen on Tuesday pleaded guilty to bank fraud, tax fraud and campaign finance law violations in the Southern District of New York.
While reviewing the charges, Cohen told the judge that he made two six-figure payments to women at the direction of a candidate for federal office, essentially implicating the president.
Cohen did not refer to Trump by name during the proceedings, but his comments match the accounts of payments to adult-film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal. Both women have said they were paid to remain quiet about alleged affairs with the president.
Prosecutors additionally alleged Cohen failed to disclose $4.1 million in reported income, which allowed him to obtain various loans to which he would otherwise have not have been able to access.
Cohen was released on $500,000 bond. He is due back in court for sentencing on Dec. 12.
Davis has said in the aftermath of Cohen's plea that his client is not hoping for, nor would he accept a pardon from Trump. Davis said Cohen would also be willing to share what he knows with special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump on Wednesday morning offered his first public comments on Cohen's plea, recommending against retaining the services of his long-time personal fixer.
"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you dont retain the services of Michael Cohen!" Trump tweeted.
:essentially implicating the president”
In what? It’s not a crime. Paying off some blackmailer is not an in-kind campaign donation.
The real question is - why aren’t Stephanie Clifford and Katherine McDougal being charged with extortion?
Bingo.
“Why would Cohen have Davis ass his attorney?”
Because the Clinton’s got to him using Davis, and promised him “help”.
So the Go Fund Me is yet another avenue to monitize fame.
He may get it, the left has been funding the heck out of anyone that comes out against Trump.
It sort of looks like a lunkhead doofus payment page.
Maybe we should flood that page with 5.00 donations and leave comments.
GoFunMe appears to be a means to funnel untraceable money to individuals without any disclosure or accountability.
Howabout $.05? Is there a minimum.
I wish there was a way to donate a sheetmetal plug. They are worthless.
Shouldn’t Story and the Playboy model step up to the plate first?
Going pretty good it seems...total now is $442,145.
Yes it is pretty obvious...
No, because the GoFundMe page will a payoff to Cohen for crapping on Trump. The Clintons will probably be behind most of the cash into it

That's your proof? Do you have access to the listing of every single donation? Are you honestly that gullible that you believe this?
Don’t know
Now that he has served his purpose, liberals will abandon him; and conservatives will shun him.
I was agreeing with you! It is obvious it needs to be investigated for money laundering.
Thanks for calling me gullible, I guess I must be to post to you.

Ouch! My bad. Guess I deserved that. My apologies.
