Mark Levin: ‘Donald Trump Is in the Clear’ — ‘Lanny Davis Blew It,’ ‘You Are a Dummy, Lanny’
Breitbart news ^ | August 22, 2018 | Jeff Poor

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” conservative talker and legal expert Mark Levin criticized the plea deal Michael Cohen made with the prosecutor for the Southern District of New York regarding campaign finance law violations.

Levin argued Cohen pled guilty to the charge despite them not being offenses and at the behest of the prosecutor who insisted they were offenses.

snip

The general counsel for the Clinton mob family, Lanny Davis, he had his client pleaded two counts of criminality that don’t exist. These campaign finance violations that is all over TV, they are saying implicates the president of the United States directly.

First, let’s back up. It is a guilty plea. It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and a criminal. A criminal who doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case. Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent. That’s number one.

Number two, just because a prosecutor says that somebody violated a campaign law doesn’t make it so. He is not the judge. He is not the jury. We didn’t adjudicate anything. It never went to court. That’s number two.

A campaign expenditure under our federal campaign laws is an expenditure solely for campaign activity. A candidate who spends his own money or even corporate money for an event that occurred not as a result of the campaign, it is not a campaign expenditure.

just looking at the headlines yesterday, I had no idea that Cohen paid these girls with Trump’s money. They made it sound like a campaign expenditure.

If that is the case, this is really laughable.

I don’t care if Trump paid some women not to trash him publicly. It’s certainly better than threatening them, as the Clinton’s did.

We need to keep in mind that since 1997, the House of Representatives has paid out settlements of all types, including sexual activities of our elected officials to the tune of about $17M.

Candidate Trump would have had to use his personal money, not tax payer money, to craft settlements along the same lines. All of this is distasteful, but all of it seems necessary at some level. A billionaire diddling women who have deemed themselves as sex objects is not unfamiliar to the history of billionaires.

Politico and even Snopes admit to the existence of the House settlement fund, and very seldom are those settlements brought in to any courthouse. This fund was highlighted in December 2017 without much fanfare, but with many shoulder shrugs.

Politicians and public figures will be dealing with sexual accusations well into the future.

BTW, I don't care - Trump is a street-fighting insurgent, and we need him to fix stuff, even if it gets ugly. We indeed have double standards based on party affiliation. But MAGA anyway.

How many of these settlements were paid out right before an election of a Congress person with a harrassment charge against them? So it’s not illegal to pay off someone with tax payers money but it is illegal if you use your own personal money or campaign funds?

Hope Trumps lawyers cite this disparity if it comes to any charges.

on Today show, Samantha Guthrey kept trying to get Davis to confirm if they had any tapes or documents showing illegal payments and he would not confirm, just changed the subject repeatedly.

NorDUH O'Donnell and the feminist guy John metrosexual on CBS "This Morning" tried the same approach and Lanny had only a nothing burger to offer.

Shockingly, some women will absolutely throw themselves at billionaires. Equally shockingly, lots of billionaires will treat them like slam pieces.

Everybody knew The Donald was a hound. So what? Didn’t matter with Bill Clinton. The Democrats in the 90’s said “its just sex”....and we’re not even talking about sexual harrassment or even rape allegations against him.

They’ve got nothing. He paid a couple of former slam pieces to shut up. pfffft. That happens all the time in business and politics.

Boy, they must have had some really big slam dunk crimes on Cohen to get him to agree to plead to some made up crimes just to make Trump look bad. It’s what they didn’t file that’s the real story here.

The crime was committed by Davis. Why would a lawyer have his client plead guilty if there was any question whether the activity was unlawful? What was Davis offered by the swamp? What secret deals did he make with the swamp?

Here is the money line.

Lanny Davis, he had his client pleaded two counts of criminality that don’t exist.

Levin says Lanny is dumb for pleading to non-existent crimes. He likely plead to this to dodge some real heavy time like Manaford is now facing . The whole thing stinks. Muller destroyed Attorney client privilege to pin this made up crime on Trump. Lanny just gave Muller what he really wanted and saved Cohen from decades in jail.

Levin is right, but ultimately this is not a legal issue, it is political and a political prosecution using the legal system as a wedge. That’s the problem. It is just the opposite for Clinton, Imram and other Dems. They have committed crimes but it is the political system protecting them using the legal system. Our country no longer has real justice.

Extortion by federal prosecutors and collusion by the defense and the prosecutors.

I think Cohen has a good chance to get this stuff thrown out at some point.

btw, with all the Cohen and Manafort stuff going on, it reminded me of the Benghazi video and the film maker that was held for over a year based on what crime?

Our feds are out of control. Reel them in Real Donald Trump!

So Cohen pleaded guilty to non-existent laws and confesses for Trump (and the media buys it). What a set up!!
This is so over the top it validates why Trump was elected.

the legal settlement of sexual harassment claims is not uncommon.....

the threatening of women who have been harrassed is less common, and is actually a crime....
