I don’t think this is desperation so much as a choreographed play designed to energize the rabid left wing Democrat base.
Trump can’t play defense here, he needs to be on offense - declassify and release the DOJ/FBI documents. Make them public now. The American legal system is stacked against him and he needs to hit them - by taking out the seat of their power, the DOJ - with a kill shot. He can’t let this - the shouting that he committed a crime - drag on and become the over-arching narrative. They are out to kill him, he’s got to take them out first.

Cohen was coerced into pleading guilty to a non-crime. That’s all the more reason for the nomination to go through, just to stop such politicized peresecutorial abominations in the future.
